Lunasol Cool Beige #19 Nail Finish

This was a present thanks to my sister who went to Japan about a year ago - I had given her a list of things to check out for me and asked her to pick out a pretty nail polish and this is what she brought home: Lunasol Nail Finish in Cool Beige #19, a pretty beige base with gold-silver complex sparkles and glitters.

This is the only Lunasol nail polish I have but I am really impressed with the formula. It's rich and opaque and needs only 1 coat to get a full even finish. This mani is with 2 coats because that's what the nail tech did. The color is chock-full of so many colors, I can't even describe how complex it is. I'm not usually a huge fan of super-sparkles unless they are super sheer (ala Chanel Cry Baby or OPI Hollywood Blonde) but I really like this one and am glad my sister picked this one out.

Is this dupeable? I would say no. The finish is truly unique and so complex, I haven't seen anything like it. Paul & Joe #27 Gilded is similar (check here), but slightly darker and has a similar finish but with a darker gold base. I am curious to find out how the new one from P&J coming out this summer will compare to it.

Lunasol Beige Beige Skin Modeling Eyes

One of my very first posts focused on 3 Lunasol Eyeshadow Quads I was lucky enough to get thanks to my wonderful sister while she was in Japan. I've received requests for more reviews on Japanese brands, which I would love to do, but I have a very small stash of items that come directly from Japan. I realized I never swatched these, so thought this might be a good time to give a more in-depth review.

I discovered this brand thanks to one of my favorite bloggers, Haru at Rouge Deluxe. I've been a long-time fan of hers and her blog is one of my daily reads. I highly recommend you check out her blog (the Lunasol tag is linked above) for more pictures, swatches, reviews and lovely EOTDs.

Beige Beige 01 is reported to be the brand's Number 1 seller in Japan and comes in the Skin Modeling Eyes formula. It has 3 variations of beige plus 1 glimmering chocolate color. I'd describe this as a true classic beige eyeshadow palette for light to medium to medium-dark skintones + a natural chocolate liner shade that softly defines the eye.

I love the fact that the Lunasol website has a "How To Use" diagram for each eyeshadow palette by formula which I find incredibly helpful, even though with beige colors, it's hard to go wrong any way you apply the colors. This palette gives you a great fail-proof set of beiges that will give you an enhanced but naturally defined glowing eye look.

Swatches top to bottom are in same order as diagram above, A, B, C, D:

Look I did today with the Lunasol Beige Beige Quad using NARS St. Barts + South Beach Multiples blended on cheeks, NARS Serato dusted on top, MAC Teddy Eyeliner, MAC Spice Lipliner, D&G Sparkling Lipstick, MAC Moth to Flame Dazzleglass.

Are there dupes for this quad? Probably yes, but I haven't found any other brand that can replicate the texture and pigment of these eyeshadows. The palest shade is the most sparkly, border line glittery, but the others have a sophisticated shimmer that is very flattering and natural looking. The pigment for this quad is very high in my opinion, it has the buttery soft texture of colors from MAC's Starflash Eyeshadows but better pigment. The swatches on the skin don't do this quad justice for how the colors look on the eyes! Unfortunately, the pigment did not translate onto my arm.

Lunasol Quads

My current obsessions include hard-to-find items, particularly the eyeshadow quads from Lunasol, a Japanese Makeup Brand made by Kanebo Cosmetics. I was lucky enough that my sweet sister picked up some items for me while she was in Japan earlier in the spring.

The brand concept is geared towards the Refined Woman. They have several different kinds of eyeshadow categories, their English website is at
http://www.lunasol-net.com/en/index.html.

Skin Modeling Eyes: 01 Beige Beige, a gorgeous combination of beige-based colors. All shades have shimmer, the pale champagne and chocolate are the most shimmery, the two beige colors have more of a satiny finish.

Lighting for Eyes: 04 Neutral, each quad in this series features a "jewelry powder" which is a super sparkley shadow (in this one, the bottom right shade). A gorgeous combination of silvery taupes.

Scent Form Eyes: 05 Chocolate Cosmos, my personal favorite, soft velvety texture and rich pigment.

Nail Polish: 19 Cool Beige, a sparkly neutral light beige, rich pigment, 1 coat is sufficient.

My review on these items: these are among the best shadows I've tried. They have a similar texture to the MAC Starflash Shadows and Urban Decay Shimmer Shadows, soft and velvety and super easy to blend. I find the Lunasol shades to all be very pigmented, both the light and dark. Can't wait to try more from this line.
