Weekend Loves & Reads + Giveaway Winner Announced

I hope everyone has been enjoying the weekend, I've been enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. Some weekend loves include:
  • Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Killer Cheekbones Set for perfectly contoured cheeks and eyes (review soon, looks like it just sold out online but is still available on backorder)
  • Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana (review) for something fresh, light and super feminine
  • Armani Eyes to Kill Stretch Mascara (favs here) for long-lasting mascara
  • Chanel Illusion d'Ombre in New Moon (swatches) for added sparkle and shimmer
  • Dior Addict Fluid Stick in Rose Tricheuse (swatches here) for a bright summery lip
  • Oribe Anti-Humidity Spray (mini) because I love the superfine mist it dispenses and also love the smell (I actually love the smell of all Oribe items)
Not beauty-related but I need to give a quick rave about two Nordstrom-Anniversary Sale items:
  • These Nike Legend Capris are amazing, they are super flattering for workout bottoms, they hold everything in but aren't too tight, I might get a second pair because the price is so good
  • I live for Paige Denim (one of the few brands that fit me), I splurged on these Skyline Ankle Peg Skinny Jeans and am obsessed with them
  • I passed on all other clothing items even though there are some amazing items, I tend to get overwhelmed by all the options, if you have any raves or good finds I would greatly appreciate your suggestions
Some online beauty reads I've been loving this weekend:
  • Hourglass will open it's first store this fall - Forbes
  • Christian Louboutin Beauté will launch new nail colors - Café Makeup
  • Bite Beauty Champagne Agave Lip Mask has a pretty pearly finish - Temptalia
  • Tatcha Ritual Discovery Kit looks like a great starter set - Cute and Mundane

Date Night Details

I have a quick moment to share a snapshot of some details for tonight's date with my husband. It's a warm summery evening which calls for a lightweight dress and open-toe sandals. I'm keeping everything simple with a few accessories as accents:

Dress - Iro (old)
Sandals - Banana Republic (sold out online but I've spotted them in stores)
Purse - Prada Saffiano (small)
Eyes - NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows in Himalia and Subra
Cheeks - NARS Matte Multiple in Vientiane
Perfume - Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black (beauty insider mini)
Bracelet - Hermes

I spent a good part of the day swatching the new Fresh Sugar Shines, Dolce & Gabbana Nail Polish and Chanel highlighter. I hope to get some editing done tonight to have posts up soon. I've also received a lot of requests about the cute little Fujifilm that I have been featuring. I'll work on a review on it as well and share the research I did to decide which brand/version to go with (there are quite a few options out there!).

I hope you are enjoying the weekend with some relaxation and fun!

Loving Right Now / Beauty Preview

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Right now I'm loving Diptyque Feu de Bois and Lumira Tahitian Coconut for the home. For lips I've been obsessed with Tom Ford In the Buff Sheer Lip Color - it is the perfect soft nude for me, most of the colors from the spring collection are sold out but you can still find this one at NordstromNeiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman (Bergdorfs has a beauty GWP going on).

I attended a small Chanel event at my local Neiman Marcus a few weeks ago and the artist used Chanel Utopia Illusion d'Ombre all over the lids with a bit of Chanel Les Beiges No. 40 as a contour and a black liner. It was so simple but really pretty and polished. Since then I've been wearing Utopia almost every other day. I've also found myself wearing Chanel Les Beiges powders on the face on a daily basis. I use No. 20 for a soft setting powder and darker ones in No. 30 and 40 to add warmth and contour (swatches of all three from last year here). The summer Multi-Colour No. 02 is also a new favorite for bronzing. It's listed as limited-edition on Chanel.com so I will definitely need to get a backup.

For a quick preview on what will be coming soon on The Beauty Look Book, I purchased some items from Chanel Fall. Shown above are the three Le Vernis Nail Colors in Secret, Atmosphere and Orage, Glossimer in Rose Reve. I'm also working on swatches of Burberry's two new Sheer Eyeshadows in Storm Grey #27 and Graphite #28 (they're listed as being on backorder on Nordstrom, but I ordered one and it shipped right away, another option is to call one of the Burberry counters, Nordstrom San Francisco has both).

Last preview is that Tatcha has launched several Travel Sized Mini skincare items for sale. They sent me the mini oil for review (feature soon) and I've already ordered three other items to take with me for an upcoming trip. They are perfect for travel or to try something out before committing to the full size.

For non-beauty loves, I'm loving nude pinks for accessories. Also bookmarking lots of items in J.Crew's Style Guide for summer (have you checked out their blog?).

Stay tuned for the reviews soon!

Loving Right Now

A few things I'm loving right now include pinkish glosses such as Tom Ford Sahara Pink (swatched here) and NARS Belize. I've been reaching more for the swipe-and-go pencils and glossy lipsticks these days. I've re-fallen in love with NARS Gloss Pencil in Hopi (reviewed here).

For the eyes, I picked up a few more By Terry Ombre Blackstar Cream Eye Shadows and have been thoroughly impressed with the pigment and wear time. NARS has new Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows coming out July, I'll have two to share with you soon. (Pictured above is Europa). Still making it to my favorites list is Guerlain Maxi Lash Waterproof. It stays put, separates the lashes, thickens, volumizes and holds the curl. Let me know if you want a full review. Topshop Coal Eye Kohl Pencil has become a staple in my weekly makeup routine (review here). I love that it's a true black, applies very smoothly and stays put.

My skin has been acting up for the past few months because of a number of things. I've started running and that combined with weather changes and a bit of extra stress has turned everything upside down. I've started experimenting by adding a few extra steps to my skincare routine. I've found that using a cleansing oil such as MAC Cleansing Oil helps break down long-wear sunscreens and foundations. I've also been mixing up my serum routine with Chanel Le Jour and Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Firming Serum under my regular moisturizer. I alternate with these and my skin has improved in texture within the course of a week.

Also loving Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet for the perfect amount of coverage and just the right amount of matte finish.

I've also found myself reaching for Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream on a regular basis (review here). I alternate hand creams depending on what's closest to me or what's in my purse (I have various hand creams scattered around the house, car and desk). I like the fresh scent of Caudalie and the compact size is perfect for putting inside my makeup bag. Last but not least I got a Sephora Beauty Insider sample of the Elizabeth and James Nirvana White which is a pretty light floral. (It's still available online for redeeming and I spotted it in stores last week.) There's a new 1000 point perk online for VIB Rouge Members. Seeing as I only have 50 points, I don't think I will be getting it any time soon.

What are you loving right now? Did you discover anything new or fun over the weekend?

This post features some items sent as press samples from Topshop and NARS for consideration. All opinions are my own. For more information refer to my disclosures.

Loving This Week

This week I'm in love with Tatcha's Indigo Hand Cream and Caudalie's Divine Oil for extra moisture and hydration. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments in the mini sizes have found their way to my makeup bag on a regular basis lately as well for added moisture and quick touch ups. As my skin has started to clear up the Chanel Les Beiges Fluid No. 30 has started to be sufficient on its own (just with powder added) for a sheer evening base. As an update to my last review, I got a sample of No. 20 and found it to be a good match as well, just slightly too pink so No. 30 is a better match for me right now. Edward Bess Afterglow has remained a staple for me every day, I just used another one up and opened up a brand new one. Perfect as an eye base or highlight on the cheekbones. Another eye pencil I've been loving for an eye base is NARS Soft Touch Pencil in Iraklion as a good nude taupey cream base for powder eyeshadows. It's a lovely subtle neutral. Sephora Beauty Insider offerings are killing it this summer with the Elizabeth and James Nirvana minis (I'm seriously considering the full size of Nirvana Black). MAC Sharon Osbourne Lipglasses in Pussywillow and Bijou are my new must-haves (review to come soon, I think Bijou is backup worthy). I'm planning a mid-week nail polish change on my toes but can't decide between Dior Metal Montaigne or Incognito (do you ever do nudes on your toes?). Guerlain Cils d'Enfer in Waterproof Black is a new discovery thanks to The Raeviewer (be sure to check out her summer must-haves). I love it for lush thick defined lashes and the formula stays put all day long. Le Metier de Beaute Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope is a Neiman Marcus Camp Gorgeous Gift with Purchase Exclusive with a $250 LMdB purchase, I purchased items in store to get this, but just checked online to see it it was available. It's not listed in the beauty offers section but if you add items to your cart the gift will show up once you hit the qualifying amount (while supplies last). I wish Le Metier de Beaute would release more kaleidoscopes that weren't exclusives but I'm really happy to have this one.

Currently working my way through reviews of so many lipglosses that I've accumulated since May. Featured above are Marc Jacobs Overprotected and NARS Lipgloss in Istria, Belize, Sweet Dreams and Risky Business.

Loving Right Now / In Rotation

I have quite a few items in rotation now, both new and older loved items. Currently testing out the new Chanel Les Beiges No. 02 (the darker version), new Hourglass Extreme Sheen High Shine Lipglosses in Ballet (darker pink) and Canvas (nude rose), NARS Malacca Eyeshadow from the summer collection, some of the newly repackaged NARS Lipglosses in Angelika, Istria and Sweet Dreams. (Thoughts and reviews to come in the next couple weeks.)

Some summer items I've been loving include the new Reflets D'Été de Chanel Le Vernis colors in Mirabella and Tutti Frutti (first look here), the new Illusion d'Ombres in New Moon and Utopia are to die for (review here).

For fragrance I've been reaching for florals like the new Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana (review here) as well as Frederic Malle Carnal Flower.

Two classics from Caudalie and Dior: the Caudalie Divine Oil which is perfect for warm weather, it's lightweight but moisturizing and absorbs quickly into the skin. Deborah Lippmann Cuticle Oil is a must-have for my frequent polish changes when I swatch colors (nail care essentials coming up soon), Diorskin Airflash comes highly recommended by many of my close friends (several used it at their weddings). I've tried it years ago and didn't like it because I thought it was a bit heavy, but just tested it again at the counter and have decided to give it a second go.

For new stationary and organization, you must check out Garance Doré's new stationary collaboration with Rifle Paper Co. She has so many chic adorable options from cards, notepads, note cards etc. I found her items online at Rifle Paper Co. and the online shop Garance Doré Goods.

What's been in rotation for you this past week and weekend?

PS - The Beauty Look Book is now on Facebook, I'm working on updating my sidebar icons. Stay tuned for a giveaway in the next week!

  • The NARSissist Eye Palette - so this has been on my radar for weeks now, I've resisted so far, if you've tried this, what were your thoughts? do I need this?

Loving Right Now

I can't believe it's already March. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I wanted to share a few things I'm loving right now. As always, I'd love to hear what is on your favorites list - please share in the comments below. I often discover new favorites through my readers.

White lacquered tray is from West Elm
  1. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat - this is the perfect glowy pink-poppy flush (see my swatches from yesterday here)
  2. MAC Cremesheen + Pearl Glass in Floating Lotus - these were released a while ago with the Cremesheen+Pearl collection, I'm so glad MAC made the lipsticks and glosses permanent, there are some really gorgeous classic pinks, Floating Lotus is a lovely sheer natural pink
  3. Giorgio Armani Gloss d'Armani #513 - this is one of the prettiest cool beige shimmers, it has a hint of pink and it doesn't wash out the complexion (swatches here)
  4. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse - see my review on body oils here, I usually prefer the Caudalie, but right now I keep reaching for the Nuxe
  5. Tom Ford Foundation Sticks in Bisque 04 and Natural 05 - I started with Natural 05 but got a bit of a tan so was in need of one shade darker, it was a good thing I asked the artists at the counter for their help because the odd thing with these is Bisque 04 is actually darker than Natural 05 even though the shades are supposed to be in sequence (lighter shades are supposed to be the lower numbers) I'll have a more detailed review soon, this is very pricey but it's an amazing product and worth every penny
  6. L'Artisan Mûre et Musc - a discovery thanks to one of my long time friends, this is a beautiful blend of blackberry and musc, it's not overly sweet, my review on this from a holiday the trio a few years ago here
  7. MAC Viva Glam IV - this is a classic rose frost, not too red, berry or neutral, just the right mix of pink and rose
  8. Malin + Goetz Lip Moisturizer - this came in last month's Barneys Love Yourself gift bag, it's my first time trying anything from the brand, the price seems very reasonable for a lip balm, I'm incredibly impressed, it feels amazing on the lips
  9. Tom Ford Lip Sheer In the Buff - I've been wearing this non-stop, some have mentioned it doesn't show up or is too pale, but for me, it's my perfect everyday nude (swatches here)
  10. Chanel Glossimer Sonate 179 - from the spring collection, this is a lovely coral gloss from Chanel that actually shows up on my pigmented lips (swatches here)
  11. Tom Ford Eau de Parfum Oud Wood - I don't wear a fragrance everyday, I'm often rushed in the mornings and this is often last on my list, if I were to have an everyday fragrance this would be it, it's neutral enough to not be overpowering at the office (review here)

On My Radar / New in Beauty

On my radar for what's new in beauty. I splurged on almost all the Hourglass blushes and have been testing this week (they are now on Sephora.com). They are all amazing. In my mind the best blushes released this year.

Armani has two new products that appear to be exclusive to Saks right now. There are four new shades of a Sun Fabric compact ($54 each) along with seven new shades of Cheek Fabric ($46 each). Have you seen these yet? I haven't seen them anywhere in stores yet. If you have please share in the comments. I'm dying to hear your thoughts.

My heart skipped a beat with the Chanel Jardin de Camélias collection (Chanel.com limited-edition exclusive). My order arrived last night so I will be busy photographing and swatching this weekend. For curious minds, I ordered the blush, highlighter and all the lip products. (Temptalia has been uploading reviews and swatches of the collection on her blog.)

Le Métier de Beauté finally released the three new Kaleidoscope Kits in Total Face Look, Cheeky Chic and Strada ($95 each) online at Bloomingdales (review on Total Face soon).

I'm dying over all the new NARS Matte Multiples and don't know whether to order now or wait to test in person (now at Narscosmetics.com and Sephora). I know I need the two pink ones.

Finally, Bobbi Brown has a fresh peach collection Nectar and Nude. I haven't bought a Pot Rouge since she repackaged them into compacts but the new Hibiscus Pot Rouge might be worth checking out.

What's on your beauty radar right now?
