On My Radar / New In Beauty

Some items on my beauty radar this week, I hope everyone is having a great week so far. It's almost Friday :)

These come in 6 shades and the darker shades Bloom Berry 4, Fig Fiction 5 and Toffee Cream 6 and look absolutely stunning, I think a trip to Barneys is in order soon (see Mandarina Pulp and the lighter/brighter colors swatched here)

Many of you have asked for recommendations on clear makeup bags, these Small Clarity Clutches by One Truffle look chic, sleek and absolutely adorable (they've been added to my wish list)

3. Charlotte Tilbury Beauty
The line is launching in the US in September, I have my eye on so many things from her line since I've fallen in love with the Filmstar Bronze & Glow, I placed an order from Charlottetilbury.com because I couldn't wait to try some items, I'm loving the look of her Beach Sticks.
This Christian Louboutin nail polish has been on my radar for a while, I couldn't justify the $50 price tag on a nail polish, but so many lovely readers from Europe and the US have been emailing me with raves and also requests to review, I caved and ordered, will report when it arrives.

5. Lash Growth Serums
I've had my eye on several lash serums on the market and I personally know several girls who have use Latisse and Neulash and they have lashes that are seriously to die for, I'm going to try one soon.

This sounds intriguing with it's multi-purpose benefits, have you tried this before? It's supposed to be a makeup remover and lash moisturizer that helps them grow.

This looks like an exquisite classic palette, I've splurged on quite a few eyeshadow palettes already this fall, I'll have to investigate in person to see if it's unique enough to buy, but the colors look perfect for an everyday polished look.

8. NARS Audacious Lipstick Collection
NARS will be releasing 40 shades lipstick to celebrate their 20th Anniversary in the Audacious Lipstick Collection, colors will include a full range of provocative hues from neutral nudes to striking reds and bold pinks, housed in a modern, matte-black metallic case with a magnetic closure, launching on Narscosmetics.com on September 1st (10 of the shades will be exclusive to Barneys).

9. J.Crew Ceramic Tray
J.Crew has a new Gold/Ivory Ceramic Jewelry Tray which looks gorgeous for storing small accessories and trinkets. I have these in previously released patterns and they make nice accents for the home.

As fall collections and new product releases trickle in, what's on your radar? As beauty fans in the US wait for Charlotte Tilbury's beauty line to arrive I'm living vicariously through UK girls and their swatches. If you've tried the line please tell me what your favorites are. For lashes, do you have any favorite lash treatments or serums?

Loving Right Now / Beauty Preview

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Right now I'm loving Diptyque Feu de Bois and Lumira Tahitian Coconut for the home. For lips I've been obsessed with Tom Ford In the Buff Sheer Lip Color - it is the perfect soft nude for me, most of the colors from the spring collection are sold out but you can still find this one at NordstromNeiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman (Bergdorfs has a beauty GWP going on).

I attended a small Chanel event at my local Neiman Marcus a few weeks ago and the artist used Chanel Utopia Illusion d'Ombre all over the lids with a bit of Chanel Les Beiges No. 40 as a contour and a black liner. It was so simple but really pretty and polished. Since then I've been wearing Utopia almost every other day. I've also found myself wearing Chanel Les Beiges powders on the face on a daily basis. I use No. 20 for a soft setting powder and darker ones in No. 30 and 40 to add warmth and contour (swatches of all three from last year here). The summer Multi-Colour No. 02 is also a new favorite for bronzing. It's listed as limited-edition on Chanel.com so I will definitely need to get a backup.

For a quick preview on what will be coming soon on The Beauty Look Book, I purchased some items from Chanel Fall. Shown above are the three Le Vernis Nail Colors in Secret, Atmosphere and Orage, Glossimer in Rose Reve. I'm also working on swatches of Burberry's two new Sheer Eyeshadows in Storm Grey #27 and Graphite #28 (they're listed as being on backorder on Nordstrom, but I ordered one and it shipped right away, another option is to call one of the Burberry counters, Nordstrom San Francisco has both).

Last preview is that Tatcha has launched several Travel Sized Mini skincare items for sale. They sent me the mini oil for review (feature soon) and I've already ordered three other items to take with me for an upcoming trip. They are perfect for travel or to try something out before committing to the full size.

For non-beauty loves, I'm loving nude pinks for accessories. Also bookmarking lots of items in J.Crew's Style Guide for summer (have you checked out their blog?).

Stay tuned for the reviews soon!

Current Loves For June . . .

Paul & Joe Creamy Facial Foam
NARS Beverly Hills Multiple Tint
NARS Sertao Blush
NARS Cordura Eyeshadow Duo
Urban Decay YDK Eyeshadow
Bobbi Brown Bronzer Brush
Bobbi Brown Shore Cream Eyeshadow
Chanel Nail Polishes
MAC Blonde's Gold Pigment
MAC Fleur Power
J.Crew Skinny Belts

* Sorry for the misspelling on the NARS blush, it's Sertao, not Serato

  • Paul & Joe Creamy Facial Foam - I tried this from a sample and finally purchased the full size. It's thick and creamy and cleanses the skin really well. Leaves the skin feeling clean and refreshed.

  • NARS Beverly Hills Multiple Tint - See more swatches and the review here, a nice swipe & go type of product, easy to use and blend, gives a pop of color, can't rave enough about these

  • NARS Sertao Blush - A pretty shimmery light golden tan

  • NARS Cordura Eyeshadow Duo - Great for a smokey bronzed eye look

  • Urban Decay YDK Eyeshadow - This is from the old packaging, a nice nude-taupey-bronze sparkle

  • Bobbi Brown Bronzer Brush - This is from the Black Plum set, but is available in the regular brush handle, the most luxurious soft bronzer brush you'll ever find. Definitely worth the price even though it is pricier.

  • Bobbi Brown Shore Cream Eyeshadow - My perfect lids-but-better base, review here

  • Chanel Nail Polishes - Especially love Riviera (check out dupes here) and Orange Blossom (see the manicure here)

  • MAC Fleur Power - The perfect healthy warm pink blush

  • MAC Blonde's Gold Pigment - The prettiest wash of soft gold-champagne

  • J.Crew Skinny Belts - Simple, classic and makes a nice accent to the waist, now I just need to go back and find a black one

What are you loving right now? I always love reading your favorites.

*Update* I wasn't happy with the swatches for this post - I think they were a bit misleading because the lighting was off so I removed them so I don't confuse my readers. Sorry for any confusion!

Look of the Day Inspired By My Daily Reads & Readers

Today's look is inspired from a few of my favorite daily reads and readers. The bits of inspiration include the following:

Today's Look: Summer Casual

Top: J.Crew Perfect-Fit Stripe Boatneck (S)
Shorts: J.Crew
Sandals: Tory Burch
Purse: Chanel
Guest Puppy Appearance: Mr. Jake

Makeup of The Day:

Face: Chanel Sunkissed Illuminator
MAC Refined Golden Bronzer
MAC Dollymix Blush

Eyes: Paul & Joe Eye Gloss 05
Bobbi Brown Seashell Shimmerwash
MAC Naked Dark Pigment (swatches here)
Bobbi Brown Java Metallic Eyeshadow
(Java comparisons)

Lips: MAC Dervish
Paul & Joe Liplacquer 06

Brushes Used:

Eye look was a smokey taupe, here's how:
  • Step 1: Apply Paul & Joe Eye Gloss in Murmur 05 on lids (for asian eyes, 1/2 way up eye from lash to middle of eye, heavier near lash line)

  • Step 2: Apply Bobbi Brown Java Metallic from lash to 1/2 way up lid for a smokey eye, also heavier near lash line

  • Step 3: Apply MAC Naked Dark Pigment over center of eye to blend out any harsh lines from the darker shades

  • Step 4: Apply Bobbi Brown Seashell Shimmerwash from brow downwards softly to create a subtle highlight

  • Step 5: Curl lashes and apply mascara

Nails of the Day: Chanel Django & Nouvelle Vague

The mani/pedi combo:

I'm surprised that I'm liking the blue nail polish! FYI - the Jcrew top seems to run a bit small. I'm normally an XS in their shirts but found it to be a bit too snug. Or perhaps I just have been having too many sugary drinks and gained weight.

Feedback appreciated! Too much info in one post? Is the look too casual to write about? Would you style the top differently? I like that it can be dressed up a little with a nice skirt or dress pants. But it's nice as a loungy-carefree-top too. Being in Southern California - my daily style is pretty casual.

I already did a lip swatch and EOTD attempt - neither turned out decent this morning. I'll try and feature the Paul & Joe Lip Lacquer by itself in another post in the near future.

Weekend Look of the Day: J.Crew White Ruffled Tank & Skirt

How was everyone's weekend? The weather here in Southern California has been a bit odd the past few days - at least by the beach. Sunny bits here and there and then mostly cloudy. This was Sunday's outfit/look.

Top: J.Crew ruffle tank
Skirt: J.Crew white denim mini
Belt: J.Crew patent burgandy skinny belt
Shoes: Prada flats
Purse: Chanel

I didn't plan to have mostly J.Crew on - but it seems to happen more often these days, although I do have to say it's with their older pieces from past seasons. I love how comfortable the ruffle top is, but unfortunately, if it's not tucked in or tied with a belt over, then it looks like a huge tent.

Face:
NARS Beverly Hills + South Beach Multiples mixed on cheeks
MAC Getaway Bronze Blush on top

Eyes:
Clinique Seashell Cream Shadow as a base
NARS India Song Duo
MAC Orpheus Eyeliner

Lips:
NARS Beverly Hills + South Beach mixed/dabbed on lips
MAC Love Nectar Lustreglass + Beach Lounger Lipglass mixed

I'm really loving those Multiple Tints from NARS (see my review of 2 of them here NARS Beverly Hills & Cadaques Multiple Tints = Pure Genius). Beverly Hills pulls more bright pink than red on my skin for some reason, but I still like it. Works well dabbed on lips for a slight tint. I liked it mixed a little with South Beach. I mixed the two on the back of my hand first and then applied on the lips. For cheeks, I swiped Beverly Hills on each cheek then South Beach on top and blended quickly with the fingers.

Also wanted your opinions: for the Chanel - is this something I can still pull off or is it totally OUT of style? It's an older one, I don't think Chanel makes the line anymore - at least definitely not the brown-on-brown. It's just been sitting in my closet for ages. I keep forgetting to bring it out. Input would be greatly appreciated :)

Ten Things I'm Loving Right Now

I can't believe it's nearly the end of the month, where did the time go? This is April's Edition of what I'm loving right now. As always, I've love to hear what you are loving right now too!

1. MAC Goldenaire Pigment - From MAC Lingerie 2006, a lovely pink with pearly shimmers. Goes well with almost everything for a neutral all-over wash.

2. Bobbi Brown Bronze Gel Liner - A nice soft but defined bronze shimmer. One of the few gel liners I've actually used up.

3. Diorshow Mascara - A mini one, but this is one of my holy grails. Love that the minis are just as good as the full sized ones. Can't say that it really holds the curl, but it does give full lush lashes without clumping, smudging or flaking.

4. Dior Iridescent Leather Quint - Limited from Fall 2008. A gorgeous palette of neutrals and warm beigey taupes. The closest alternative is Earth Reflection which is cooler-toned. I read from Rouge Deluxe that this was re-released in Asia. If they brought this back in the US, I wouldn't have to use this so sparingly.

5. Bobbi Brown Maui Illuminating Bronzer - A lovely natural pink glow. You can see it here compared to Antigua. Maui is the darker version with a bit more pigment.

6. Dolce & Gabbana Desert Bronzer - Lovely soft warm bronze with subtle shimmer. Those who find NARS Casino/Laguna too shimmery, this one is a nice option that is softer but not completely matte.

7. Chanel Pink Crystal Glossimer - Came out Holiday 2007, not the most unique pink shimmer. Chanel has released quite a few similar shades including the new Spring Futile. But I love this one over other lipsticks.

8. Chanel Bondi Beach Aqualumiere Gloss - New for Summer 2010. A soft peachy gold shimmer. I love the way this looks on the lips even though it's medium-sheer. You can see an additional swatch here.

9. Chanel Stresa Aqualumiere - I'm not sure if they still make this shade, but it's a sheer hot strawberry iridescent cool pink. I love this with Chanel's Nude Lipliner and Bon-Bon Aqualumiere gloss on top for a healthy pink lip. Bright as it looks in the tube, on the lips it's very wearable. See a makeover breakdown I had with it here.

10. NARS Mojave - I've been a longtime fan of NARS Viva Las Vegas. Mojave is it's darker more pigmented sister which is like what I wanted MAC Plastique to be (still lovely, but too frosty for my taste without gloss on top).

Check back soon for my list of what I'm loving right now - the non-beauty edition!

Weekend Shopping Finds

I went to the mall to do some returns while checking out the Bobbi Brown Corals Collection. I found some cute things - not all makeup related, so if you're only interested in the makeup part, I apologize!

Stop #1: J.Crew - I went in to return a scarf that I wasn't so wowed with after my initial purchase but there were so many pretty new spring clothes, I couldn't resist trying on a few things.

Rose Vines Bandaged Dress Item #25270 $138
(couldn't find this online yet though)
+ the newest catalog

Tried on a cotton ruffle dress in XS (left) which was super comfy but just looked odd with the ruffles near the bust. I don't remember the item number but I can't find it online either. It retailed for $69.50 and also came in a light grey color. Also tried the Rose Vines Bandaged Dress in Size 2 (right) which I ended up purchasing. It's difficult to see up close but the top has banded layers of fabric.

Frances Heart Cami Item #24735 which is currently on sale for $69.99. This is in Size 0. It looks way better on the model at Jcrew. A bit frilly but I still thought it was cute.

This is my favorite look from the new catalog.

Stop #2: Nordstrom - Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals haul plus some other browsing.

Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Haul (which you saw yesterday)

Didn't buy any of these since I don't have babies - but looking at these makes me want to have them. I just about died when I saw those baby boy Pumas.

Stop #3: Saks - I snapped pics of the upcoming Laura Mercier Exclusive set which has the Pink Rose Blush Quad, Bold Berries Eyeshadow Quad, 2 mini brushes, full size Babydoll Lipgloss, a mini mascara and mini foundation primer. I actually saw this at SCP a few weeks ago and I was under the impression it was for sale. My local Saks said it's only available for presale right now. I can't remember the price, but I want to say around $65-68ish?

Picked up the YSL Spring Highlighter + Armani Maestro Quad #6.

Stop #4: Sephora - Tarte Cheek Stain in Tipsy, a nice soft but healthy coral-pink.

What did you find this weekend?

Today's Non-Beauty Haul Items

Picked up some good non-beauty items today. Stopped by J.Crew and found some really cute patent-leather belts that will go well with some of my shirt-dresses. Might go back for the black patent one.

This is the cute ruffle-front shirt-dress from Banana Republic I got a couple days ago which I plan to wear with my new belts.

I absolutely adore Tommy Bahama's Scented Candles in Pineapple Cilantro & Crackled Coconut. Looks like they redesigned the packaging on their Home Fragrance Collection and added a few more scents! These classic tins were $14 each. They also have larger tins, pillars, and glass poured candles.

And I've saved the best for last. I went crazy looking for these Limited Edition Coconut M&Ms after my friend posted a comment about these! Apparently they were released in select stores in early August. So . . . 5 large retail grocery chains, 6 gas stations/liquor stores, and one 7-Eleven later, I finally found these at Circle K and stocked up (yes, I know it's quite crazy that I would spend that much time and effort just for candy). The Strawberry Peanut Butter M&Ms I found at Walmart.
