Chanel Aqualumière Glosses | Eau de Rose 86, Rosace 87, Pink Pivoine 88, Baie Rose 89

Chanel has brought us four new shades of Aqualumière Gloss in the Jardin de Camélias collection ($29.50 each, 6 ml/0.20 fl oz). Eau de Rose 86 is a pale silvery pink, Rosace 87 is a shimmery light peachy pink, Pink Pivoine 88 is a sheer coral pink and Baie Rose 89 is a cool pink. All the shades are extremely sheer and offer a slight hint of shimmer or tint to the lips. They have a high shine smooth glossy finish.

Lip swatches, for skintone reference, I currently use Tom Ford Foundation Sticks in 04 Bisque and 05 Natural mixed with Dolce & Gabbana Powder Foundation in Warm 100 on top:

Comparison swatches below to: Chanel Colbri Aqualumiere Gloss (discontinued), MAC Nectarsweet Cremesheen Glass, Chanel Bliss Glossimer, Dior Bed of Roses Addict, Bobbi Brown Pink Lily (discontinued), Tom Ford Sugar Pink Gloss, Chanel Imaginaire Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss (discontinued).

Overall beautiful fresh colors that are lovely for spring. I wouldn't call them must-haves since there is very little color payoff. These are extremely sheer glosses but that is expected with the Aqualumiere Gloss formula.

Eau de Rose 86, Rosace 87, Pink Pivoine 88, Baie Rose 89 are currently exclusive to Chanel.com. Will you be purchasing any of these? If you already ordered, what did you think?

Chanel Jardin de Camélias - Chanel.com Exclusive

Chanel just launched the Jardin de Camélias Collection exclusively online at Chanel.com in the US. I ordered the following items:
  • Sakura #87 Blush ($43, Euro/Asia baked version)
  • Jardin de Camélias Illuminating Powder ($70)
  • four Aqualumière Glosses ($29.50 each) in Eau Rose #86, Rosace #87, Pink Pivoine #88, Baie Rose #89
  • two Rouge Allures ($34 each) in Fleurie #139 and Charmeuse #142
I'll be uploading more detailed reviews as quickly as I can. I swatched and photographed everything over the weekend but need to do a bit more testing. For now here are swatches for your reference. Quick note on the glosses, they all apply very sheer on the lips like most Chanel glosses do.

You can find the collection now online at Chanel.com.

Stay tuned for the swatches and photos of the Chanel Sakura Blush and Jardin de Camélias Highlighter next. I'll be adding a few finishing touches and thoughts on my review for these during my lunch break. Review should be up the review in a few hours.

Ten Things I'm Loving Right Now

I can't believe it's nearly the end of the month, where did the time go? This is April's Edition of what I'm loving right now. As always, I've love to hear what you are loving right now too!

1. MAC Goldenaire Pigment - From MAC Lingerie 2006, a lovely pink with pearly shimmers. Goes well with almost everything for a neutral all-over wash.

2. Bobbi Brown Bronze Gel Liner - A nice soft but defined bronze shimmer. One of the few gel liners I've actually used up.

3. Diorshow Mascara - A mini one, but this is one of my holy grails. Love that the minis are just as good as the full sized ones. Can't say that it really holds the curl, but it does give full lush lashes without clumping, smudging or flaking.

4. Dior Iridescent Leather Quint - Limited from Fall 2008. A gorgeous palette of neutrals and warm beigey taupes. The closest alternative is Earth Reflection which is cooler-toned. I read from Rouge Deluxe that this was re-released in Asia. If they brought this back in the US, I wouldn't have to use this so sparingly.

5. Bobbi Brown Maui Illuminating Bronzer - A lovely natural pink glow. You can see it here compared to Antigua. Maui is the darker version with a bit more pigment.

6. Dolce & Gabbana Desert Bronzer - Lovely soft warm bronze with subtle shimmer. Those who find NARS Casino/Laguna too shimmery, this one is a nice option that is softer but not completely matte.

7. Chanel Pink Crystal Glossimer - Came out Holiday 2007, not the most unique pink shimmer. Chanel has released quite a few similar shades including the new Spring Futile. But I love this one over other lipsticks.

8. Chanel Bondi Beach Aqualumiere Gloss - New for Summer 2010. A soft peachy gold shimmer. I love the way this looks on the lips even though it's medium-sheer. You can see an additional swatch here.

9. Chanel Stresa Aqualumiere - I'm not sure if they still make this shade, but it's a sheer hot strawberry iridescent cool pink. I love this with Chanel's Nude Lipliner and Bon-Bon Aqualumiere gloss on top for a healthy pink lip. Bright as it looks in the tube, on the lips it's very wearable. See a makeover breakdown I had with it here.

10. NARS Mojave - I've been a longtime fan of NARS Viva Las Vegas. Mojave is it's darker more pigmented sister which is like what I wanted MAC Plastique to be (still lovely, but too frosty for my taste without gloss on top).

Check back soon for my list of what I'm loving right now - the non-beauty edition!

Les Pop-Up De Chanel Summer 2010 Picks

*Updated with a few swatches + descriptions* Les Pop-Up De Chanel has hit counters with a very bright and summery collection. The damage from Saks:
  • Mistral Le Vernis - soft pink with tiny micro multi-glitters (very subtle)
  • Nouvelle Vague Le Vernis - surf blue with a subtle pearl
  • Riviera Le Vernis - hot fuschia
  • Bondi Aqualumiere Sheer Color Lipshine - soft peachy coral shimmer
  • Bondi Beach Aqualumiere Gloss - gorgeous iridescent peach-gold-glow
  • Bikini Peach Glossimer - soft pinky-peach with shimmer

Close Ups of the Nail Polishes:

My fingers feel like the came from the 80's or like they belong in a gumball machine.

Comparisons to some other Chanel colors: Ming, Jade, Azur, Melrose

Lipstick + Lipglosses:

Summer Gloss Comparisons to MAC Love Nectar, MAC Sublime Shine, Armani #1, and Chanel Sesame:

Lipstick comparisons to: Como, Lily Beige, Cancun

Overall thoughts: You all know I'm a die-hard Chanel fan, but this collection seemed a bit lacking. The collection seemed a bit uncoordinated. There weren't any new blushes or eyeshadows which I was hoping for. The bronzers seemed a bit unoriginal. The lips had a good balance of bright and neutral, of course I picked up the neutrals and I am completely obsessed with both Bondi Lipstick and Bondi Beach Gloss!

Bikini Peach Glossimer is nice, but is similar to Sesame Glossimer, just a bit deeper in color.

The nail polishes are not must-haves in my opinion, although I do love Riviera which I think will be cute on the toes. Of course I got them because I collect Chanel nail polishes. The formula of these 3 summer colors are incredible and applied like a dream. I didn't really need 2 coats, but decided to do it anyways because my application was sloppy. At this time, I don't have any idea how or when I will be pulling off the Nouvelle Vague. I still have yet to brave the Jade color on tips or toes. But at least they both look nice in my vanity.

Being the Chanel fan that I am, I was still able to find some items I liked. The collection as a whole just didn't wow me as much as past seasons have. The sheer glosses were interesting - I already had a few Fluo Glosses from a previous collection and haven't used those much because they were just so sheer. However, the new ones seemed to have more color due to their brightness.

If Neimans has a good Incircle GWP, I might consider picking the other glosses up. Saks' Triple Points GWP was less than thrilling with a mini lifting cream, No 5 body cream mini and a mini mascara. Hardly worth the $150 minimum. Thankfully my SA threw in a few other goodies and extras that she could gather, but this time I had to actually ask.

Chanel Holiday 2009: Cage Doree de Chanel

The Chanel Holiday Collection finally arrived at Saks last week so of course I rushed over to check everything out.

I featured 2 of the Holiday Sets that came out in September, check out these posts for details and photos: First Look at the Chanel Holiday 2009 Gift Sets and Chanel Holiday 2009 Glossimer Duo.

For the collection, the standouts to me were the aqualumiere lipglosses and lipsticks, although they seemed to be more of a spring resort theme rather than a holiday theme. The lipsticks are unique enough that I couldn't find dupes or similar colors in my Chanel collection.

Pictured left to right:
Aqualumiere Glosses: Canari, Hirondelle, Colbri
Aqualumiere Lipsticks: Grenada, Tasmania, Galapagos, Maldives
Nail polish: Trapeze

Here are the comparisons to some other Chanel Aqualumiere Glosses and Glossimers within the same color families + swatches:

Left to right - Canari Aqualumiere, Candy Glow Aqualumiere, Coral Reef Glossimer, Hirondelle Aqualumiere, Courtisane Glossimer, Diamond Rose Aqualumiere, Colibri Aqualumiere, Wonderland Glossimer (LE), Whisper Glossimer (d/c)

* Canari Aqualmiere gloss has more pinky-coral in it compared to Candy Glow and Coral Reef
* Hirondelle Aqualumiere is not as frosty/sparkley and more natural than Courtisane and Diamond Rose
* Colibri Aqualumiere is more white than Wonderland (more sparkley) and Whisper (more beige)

Here's a repeat picture of the Trapeze Nail Polish compared to Golden Sand and Antilope:

For the actual holiday collection, there have already been some great posts and pictures published on various blogs, so I didn't want to do a rehash of everything.
