On My Radar / New in Beauty

I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Some new things in beauty on my radar.

There will be nine limited edition shades of nail polish in a 3.1 Phillip Lim for NARS Nail Collection. One of the shades, Insidious, will be a NARS Boutique exclusive. In addition a canvas nail pochette will be released. These will be available July 15, 2014 at NARS boutiques and narscosmetics.com; August 1, 2014 at Sephora and Dept./Specialty stores.

Bobbi Brown has a second summer release called Surf and Sand, some items have started to trickle in online. There are two eyeshadow palettes in Surf (aqua and pastels) and Sand (earthy neutrals), two Long-Wear Eye Pencils, two Brightening Blushes, three Sheer Lip Colors.

Frédéric Malle and Carlos Benaïm have created a new fragrance Eau de Magnolia that launches this month. I haven't checked it out yet but I'm hoping to soon. It sounds absolutely divine. Some details on Kafkaesque Blog.

Chanel Fall Beauty has arrived online Chanel.com and Bloomingdales. I have yet to check out the collection in person but reports on Twitter and Instagram indicate it has arrived at some counters. I ordered the three nail polishes in Secret, Orage and Atmosphere online and expect them this week. I'm eyeing the glossimer and liquid eye liners but undecided on most of the collection. Several have e-mailed me that this is a see-before-you-buy kind of collection. If you've checked it out, please share in the comments.

Burberry has two new eyeshadows out in Storm Grey No. 27 and Graphite No. 28. Thanks to Café Makeup for letting me know about these. I called the counter in San Francisco and found they aren't with any full collection but were two new colors released. I'll have a review soon. In the meantime check out the swatches on Gummy Vision.

NudeStix is a new line of natural and nude pencils, exclusive to Space NK (or Space NK via Bloomingdales). All the products are in pencil/stick form. The Eye Pencils look like they have quite a few lovely neutral shimmers. The Lip and Cheek Pencils have a wider range of colors from light to dramatic. I think a trip to Space NK is in order soon.

What's on your radar this week?

  1. CHANEL fall is a make-do collection. There isn't much to it. The eye quad, for example, is a repromote. This is because CHANEL is about to come out with 8 new eye quads that are available now in Europe. They are gorgeous! They reflect a new, universal formula that will eliminate the disparity between the different formulas for Europe and the US. But the repromote eye quad is Mystic, a big favorite. So hang on, ladies, bc you are going to want all 8 new quads and the waterproof Le Stylo pencils that go with them. Yes!

  2. I really excited about the launch of the 8 new Chanel quads! My Nordstrom SA's have seen them and say they are gorgeous! One will be released soon as a sort of preview with the rest to follow soon. I'm less excited about the Chanel Fall 2014 launch. I'm going to consider the nail varnishes, a glossimer and maybe a Rouge Coco Shine. But the eyeshadow singles don't do anything for me....unless I want to duplicate a black eye (yikes) and I have several brown toned Chanel quads and duos already. I looking forward to checking out the YSL and Dior fall launches. That brown toned Bobbi Brown Surf and Sand Eyeshadow palette looks gorgeous! Thanks for the heads up!

  3. After seeing the stunning promo pictures for Chanel's fall collection, I was terribly disappointed when I went to the counter to see the collection. Mystic Eyes (the quad) is an oldie so I wasn't interested in it and the singles were pretty much a fail in terms of quality. Those lovely young women who embrace the intensely colored eye looks know a thing or two about pigmentation and will probably find Chanel sadly lacking. I'm with Nemo--I'm saving my money for the new set of quads. Those of you who read the European or Asian blogs have already seen many of them. They're gorgeous! I also gave the glosses and lipsticks a miss. I think I was so disappointed in the eye products that my negativity bled over onto the other products :-( I did purchase one item, though. I bought the nail polish in Atmosphere. I'll be giving it a try this weekend when I do my pedi.

  6. The Europe eye quads referred to above have been available in Canada for a couple of months and I have purchased 4 of them during trips to Vancouver and Victoria. They are really great!

  7. I agree that the Chanel fall line is a bit of a disappointment. Typically, I only buy the single eye shadows if the color is unique and these are mediocre. Also, if the formula is not stellar - why buy them? I ordered two nail polishes (Orage and Atmosphere) and will wait to see the lip products. The new quads look wonderful and I already have one. The colors are great but I think if one is used to the US formula these are still not as good (formula-wise) as the US quads.

Eileen - thank you for the Tatcha tip. I will look into that.

    Have a good day.

  10. Liking the look of the Bobbi Brown palette in Surf. Can't wait to see the Chanel Fall selection even if it has failed to wow, when I visit the States next week - we don't get it in Europe for months yet! Susan, London

  14. The only thing I'm interested in from Chanel Fall are the Atmosphere and Orage nail polishes. I'll decide for sure when I see them in person. The Bobbi Brown blush, Burberry Storm Grey shadow, and NARS polish in Insidious have piqued my interest as well. I can't decide about the Nudestix so I'll wait until I can get to SpaceNK to figure it out.
