All Roses | Aerin Beauty, Diptyque, By Terry, Chanel and Dior

A few things I'm loving right now all have a rose theme in common. I haven't always been a fan of heavy rose-scented beauty products. It took me a while to get used to the floral fragrance in Chanel and Burberry beauty items. My current obsessions are all rose-themed.

Aerin Rose Hand and Body Cream ($40 for 4.2 oz) is the biggest splurge I've made for a hand and body lotion. The price is a bit steep but worth every penny. The tube is fairly large and it works wonders as a hand cream. I love the scent which smells like candied roses with very soft and feminine feel. The cream nourishes the hands and absorbs quickly but still keeps the hands feeling moist but not greasy. It's a total must for me as a hand saver during the dry fall/winter months.

Diptyque Roses Candle ($28 for 2.4 oz approximately 20 hours of burn time) is a warm rose scent. It's perfect for fall to winter. I like burning this by itself but it also burns nicely alongside Baies or Mimosa. I love that this gives a warm fuzzy feeling.

By Terry Baume de Rose ($60 for 10g/0.35 oz) is a cult classic. I've been eyeing this for years (literally years) but could never bring myself to splurge since I tend to avoid lip products that come in pots. (I prefer tubes for easier application.) However several beauty enthusiasts and friends insisted I try this and they pushed me over the edge. I'm happy to report that it's every bit amazing as they claimed. The Rose Balm doubles for lips and nails, but I've only tried it for lips so far. It has a smooth texture and a unique luscious feel that I've never felt in any other lip balm. There is a rose scent but it's very faint. How does it compare to my other two favorites? I'll have to do more testing, but for now I can't live without all three. The texture of the By Terry is slightly thicker and adheres to the lips better and feels like absolute heaven on the lips. My favorite part of Jo Malone's is the scent (it's heavenly) and packaging. I love the Hourglass because of how it performs combined with the spa-like scent it has. I'm hard pressed to pick just one - but will report after a bit more testing. Bottom line is the By Terry is worth every penny. I don't ever want to be without this lip balm. (I keep wondering if the gloss version is good too?)

Chanel Rose Moire Le Vernis ($27, limited-edition) was previously reviewed here and here. There's something so lovely about a shimmery rose-mauve pink. I've worn this numerous times since I first bought this color. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend you check it out at your next trip to the Chanel counter.

Dior Enchanted Rose #451 Addict Gloss ($29.50, limited-edition) is a new shade from the holiday collection. It's an irresistibly gorgeous neutral peachy pink infused with gold shimmers. It's sheer on the lips alone but works wonders when layered over an opaque lipstick. Review and swatches to follow very soon for it's own feature.

Are you fan of rose-scented or rose-colored beauty products? What are your favorites?

  1. I'm a huge fan of Jo Malone Red Roses cologne. It is my favourite rose-scented perfume. I like that it smells just like the real flower, no additions.

  2. I am HUGE on rose-scented stuff! If you like dry oil, I highly recommend both bodhi Desert Rose Rejuvenating Oil and Estelle & Thild Rose Otto Facial Oil. I burned one of those Diptyque candle all the way to the bottom, and I think I'll pick another one up soon :)

  5. I'm still on the fence when it comes to rose scented products - they can either be light and feminine or overpowering and sickly, sadly it's an extremely fine line. On the other had, rose coloured products are a favourite of mine, especially nail polishes and eyeshadows. Did someone say Naked3?! Hehe.

  7. I love a natural rose scent and have tried countless iterations throughout the years. I'm a tough critic, too as I have a garden brimming with roses. I think rose often gets a bum wrap because of the cloying, overly-powdered, artificial scent that permeates cheaper products. A true rose fragrance can range from strong and assertive to soft and barely there. Some roses are spicy; others are sweet. There's such a huge variety, it's no wonder it is a perfumer's darling.

Although I keep large bottles of Curél Ultra Healing lotion in the kitchen, the laundry room, and the bathrooms, I never hesitate to splurge on a beautifully scented, top quality body lotion. Why wouldn't we want to take the same care with our body that we do with our face? And, if it is heavenly scented, so much the better :-). It's the perfect bit of pampering at the end of a brisk shower or leisurely bath. So, I'll have to give the Aerin rose scented cream a try. It sounds lovely.

  9. Hello Sabrina,

I love your picks, as always. I love rose scented products, too, going all the way back to Rose Milk, a lotion my mother used to use. I don't know if any of your readers would remember it, but it was great. I don't think they manufacture it any longer. In any event, my favorite rose scented products these days are Diptyque Eau Rose, Le Labo Rose 31 and Dolce and Gabanna The One Rose. Rose colored nail polishes include: Chanel Rose Confidential, China Glaze Dress Me Up (from their Hunger Games collection) Essie Eternal Optimist (some consider this an "old lady" color, but I like it). Have a great day and I cannot wait to see your nail polish comparisons for Tom Ford Trophy Wife and Shameless. I purchased Shameless.

  10. It will be interesting to know more how you like by Terry lip balm. It takes some time to figure it out. I got Tatcha lip balm at Barneys Beverly hills. And at first I really liked it, but then it caused my lips to peel, so I returned it. Although I really wanted to like it. So, I was actually thinking to try by Terry next. Will be great if you post some updates on it. Thank you!

  11. Hello! Longtime reader finally commenting :-) thank you for your wonderful blog! It is such a joy to read after a long day at work, like a really luxurious treat -- for that, thank you!

What a great post! I was curious, in your opinion, pricing aside, do you think that the byTerry Baume de Rose is superior to:
    1) Dior's Creme de Rose lip balm
    2) La Mer lip balm
    3) Chanel Hydramax

Particularly the first one as it is also Rose scented and a light lovely way.

Also, have you smelled the Rose Ikebana by Hermes? It is part of the Hermessence Collection. You may like it. I am sure your SA at HOP will be happy to give you one of the lovely deluxe samples of it. :-)

  13. Have you checked out Chantecaille at your Nordstrom or Neiman stores? Their base is Rose de Mai. I use some of the items from their skin care line and my daughters use some of their akin care as well as make-up.

  17. Hi Sabrina, Just came across this. If you like by Terry Baume de Rose but like the packaging of Jo Malone lip balm, have you tried Aerin Lip Conditioner? It has the delicious rose scent with the same squeeze tube packaging like Jo Malone's.
