Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquers - Preview

Marc Jacobs Beauty launched at Sephora last week. I stopped by my local store to check out the line and picked three of the Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquers ($18 each for 13 ml/0.43 oz). There is a wide range of colors and textures to pick from. I saw creams, shimmers, frosts, glitters and some sheers. I picked out three of the shimmery shades in Gatsby, Le Charm and Petra as my first intro to the line. I'm working on reviews and swatches as fast as I can on each shade. For now, here is a sneak preview. The bottles are so cute. They have a pull off cap and I love that the bottles feel very sturdy. Part of the display at Sephora.

  2. OOO Petra looks like a WINNER! I'm not sure if we'll get MJ here. I already have a wish list though ;)

  4. I saw the line at Sephora today. The SAs were encouraging (not at all pushing) people to check it out. It wasn't getting much attention.

The Sephora online swatches are WAY off (no surprise there), but the ones on the Marc Jacobs site are quite good.

From what I checked out (and please keep in mind that I only swatched, that I'm 50+, and that these are just my opinions):

    - The shadows in all the palettes are almost all quite shimmery.
    - The foundation is *highly*--I mean, HIGHLY--fragranced. It does feel like a cooling gel when applied.
    - The blushes are gorgeous, but I had to rub hard to get any product at all on my finger (I abandoned a cotton pad--it was shredding on the tester). (BTW, I've seen complaints about this on messageboards.)
    - The lipsticks felt very thick and the colors left me cold.

I'd planned to get the Baby Jane polish, but it's almost exactly the same as Chanel Frenzy (which I have). I'm sorry to say that I left without any MJ, much to my surprise.

    1. I'm also a fab 50+ and I really appreciate this post. Thanks for the heads up on the eye shadows, I have enough shimmers already, I HATE thick feeling lippies and really....who wants to work at getting blush to apply??

    2. You're welcome! It wasn't crowded around the display (which surprised me), so I had time to look (and a GC). Nothing really attracted me. I thought I was ill for a moment. And I'm too old to have the patience to *make* a product work. ;-)

  11. Hi Sabrina,

What a gorgeous set of shimmers (and chic packaging too!) I'm totally tickled by 'Gatsby' and the West Egg allusions drawn by the pink champagne shade! :)

  12. The most beautiful packaging I have ever seen!!!

  13. I think it's very telling that most of the beauty bloggers out their are onl leaving with the polishes. No one seems to be tempted by anything else. I think Iron Maiden makes some great points. The Marc Jabobs line (aside from cute packaging) is a bust!

  14. I bought Gatsby today and I hope it doesn't leave streaks. I love the color. Now I want Petra so I may place an order.
