the beauty look book thank you giveaway

I'm doing two giveaways as a thank you and to celebrate four years of blogging (I missed my blog anniversary in May). There will be two separate winners (applicable to US only due to shipping restrictions on nail polishes) each of whom will receive:
  • Either Chanel Riva or Steel nail polish (sorry I only have one of each so selection of color will be at random, both are brand new)
  • Minis of each item from the Chanel Resynchonizing Skincare line, day/night/weekend
  • Mini of Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara
  • A mini Chanel Venice booklette (I received two during a recent event, you can't find these anywhere for purchase)
  • Black drawstring Chanel pouch
  • Three additional mini goodies (these will be a surprise!)

How to enter:

1) You must be in the US and have a US shipping address.

2) Fill out this survey - survey is now closed.

For additional entries:

3) Follow me on Twitter @beautylookbook and retweet the giveaway tweet (be sure to retweet directly so I can track entries).

4) Enter a comment below and tell me about one item you've purchased from reading The Beauty Look Book this year or one post that has inspired you (note that no spam comments with any kind of links will be published). Please be sure to enter in a way for me to contact you whether it's an email address or Twitter Id, or fill in your Google Profile in the options so I can add your additional entries.

To qualify you must fill out the survey, have a valid US shipping address and provide a way for me to contact you. (Sorry I cannot ship nail polish overseas.) Giveaway will end on Sunday 8/4/2013 at 11:45 PM PST. Entries will be collected and gathered. Two will be selected at random and announced the following week. Giveaway winners will be contacted and must respond within 24 hours. Each winner will receive package within one week of receiving shipping address information. Must be 18 years or older to enter. Good luck!

  1. Basically you are my go-to for high-end polish swatches! I love all the comparisons and the beautiful photos. Also, you were the person who triggered me to buy my most-adored handbags by Balenciaga. I guess that counts as my biggest splurge ever?

  2. Congratulations, Sabrina!
I always read your blog and you inspire me quite a lot with your knowledge and passion!
I don't take part in giveaway - I have both polishes (lucky!), wish the best of luck for your fans!

  3. Hi Sabrina! First off, thank you for holding this giveaway, it's so generous of you! Before I buy any pieces from any seasonal collections, I always try to consult the blogs that I follow for reviews and recommendations. On more than a few occasions, I've waited for the beauty look book to post about a particular product before committing to buy it (and also, I've also caved from a few of your posts as well ;). One of my favorite nail varnishes is YSL Rose Baby Doll, and I wouldn't have purchased it unless I had seen your post on it! Thanks for your continued diligence and dedication to your blog, Sabrina! Good luck to everyone entering the giveaway!

  4. Well I think of your blog everytime I use my miu miu bag but beauty wise, my most recent purchase is the Diorr fall eye shadow palette

  5. You are a huge enabler for me! I would say out of my collection you inspired my LMdB kaleidoscope, Dior Hypnotiques trio of nail polishes, Koh Gen Do aqua foundation, and most recently Laura Mercier Spellbound. All are great items so I don't regret it in the slightest! Happy four years of blogging :)

  6. I have purchased a few Chanel polishes based on your swatches. I aspire to paint my nails as cleanly as you do! I also re-tweeted @natalie818

  7. Hi Sabrina, I've purchased multiple things from reading your blog daily. The most recent purchase would have to be the Laura Mercier Illuminator in Spellbound, I'm still waiting for it to arrive! I love all your swatches and your comparisons. Hopefully one day I'll be able to splurge on as many luxury items as you. Thanks for everything!

  8. Before I buy almost anything I wait for your opinion, and I try to read daily. So far for Fall I have purchased YSL Beige Gallery and Laura Mercier Spellbound highlighter. But that is only Fall, I have bought countless items previously (I love love love YSL Rose Baby Doll) that you have written about and found many favorites because of you, thank you!

  9. Sabrina! I love reading your blog, your own personal experiences with the products, and I always refer back to your blog before I buy or splurge! The biggest thing that you inspire me to buy or rather start would be my Chanel and Dior nail polish collection! So thank you for opening my eyes!

  10. Sabrina! I read y8ur blog almost daily, and I always refer back to your blog before I buy or splurge on anything. I love looking at your nail color swatches and reading about your personal experience with the products. The biggest thing you inspired me to buy or rather start would be my own Chanel nail collection, followed by Dior and YSL! Thank you for opening my eyes!

  11. I've purchased several Laura Mercier products after reading your posts. Estee Lauder products featured on your blog most oftern end up in my makeup collection as well. I also really appreciate the fact that you also will showcase MAC products. I enjoy their products and like that they are at a slightly lower price point for some fun cheap and cheerful purchases.

  12. One item you've inspired me to purchase this year has been the Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheers. Your photos and blog entries inspire me to want to purchase EVERYTHING you show :-) You are quite honestly my favorite beauty blogger out there. Congrats on four years! Here's to many more...

  13. Hello, I check your blog pretty much daily. So much that I don't even need to bookmark it in a blogfeed to keep up, haha. Anyways, you inspired me to buy many of my Burberry items such as the Pale Barley eyeshadow. The Nars Larger than Life volumizing mascara has also been a recent one I've been inspired to buy because of you. Your recommendations have consistently paid off, unfortunately for my wallet :(

    ReplyDelete
  14. I was inspired to buy LMdB's lipstick and nail duo "Ken's Bodacious Bordeaux."

  15. I really enjoy your swatches as your skin tone is close to mine. Makes it much easier to decide how a color will look on me as opposed to guesswork. Your post in March made me snag the Urban Decay Naked Balm. I had been worried it was too peachy but you convinced me. Congratulations!

  16. One of the MANY products you inspired me to buy this year was OPI's polish in A Butterfly Moment! I could not find it in any store for the life of me! I had to call an Ulta three towns over to beg them to hold it. And now thanks to you I know own one of my all time favorite polish shades! x

    My email is akumey@rochester.rr.com

  17. Please don't enter me in this lovely giveaway as I already own both polishes, but I just want to thank you for maintaining and working so hard on this blog for the past 4 years. It has been an incomparable source of guidance in my purchases. I love and appreciate your beautiful pictures, expedient posts, and thoughtful comparisons and reviews.

  18. So what a pity I live in Europe :-( CONGRATS anyway, Sabrina! Luckily I discovered your blog just shortly after starting, and it was around the time I started getting interested in reading blogs. I down-selected to only a few I am still reading/following on a regurlar basis, and yours is still on my "check for news each week"-list ;-) Beautylookbook is one of my all-time favorites - I love the way you present and review beauty products, and I adore your dedication shown in the way you take pictures and write! Best regards!

  19. Since you have the best swatches, my interest in Nars was rekindled. I had fallen out of love with the brand as the brand pulled out of a few local locations. I was able to use your swatches, to order over the phone and Ive been thrilled with my purchases.

  20. I have purchased far too many high end nail polishes (read Nars and Chanel) after seeing your swatches and comparisons. Perhaps more importantly, if I google something and a review from you shows up in my results, I will always click due to my trust in your professionalism and taste! Thank you!

  40. First of all, a belated congratulations on four years of outstanding blogging. Although you never show your face (which is perfectly OK by me), pictures of your beauty products, home environment, apparel, accessories, and places you frequent have all come together to create a picture of you as a beautiful, intelligent, and honest young woman with exceptionally refined taste. And, one of the things I find particularly endearing is your humbleness. You come across as a genuinely nice person whom we would all love to know. There is nothing pretentious about you or your blog.

I've tried any number of products based on your posts, but the first items I ever bought blind because of your blog were some Burberry eyeshadows. The brand had just launched down in South Coast Plaza. I was very busy at the time and knew it would be awhile before I had a chance to go and so I placed a phone. I was totally satisfied. Your pictures/review were completely accurate.

  41. I have bought SO MANY THINGS because of you. Most recently is the Deborah Lippmann hydrating nail base and Chanel Top Coat. I scoured the internet and physical stores for the Dior Gel Coat to no avail, and now I'm sad :(

    ReplyDelete
  42. The most recent purchase I've made from seeing the product on your blog are the Dior Mystic Metallics palettes, in Constellation and in Bonne Etoile. Then there are the numerous Dior and Chanel polishes. I've also explored the new Chanel cream blushes and found one that works with my super fair complexion. I love how color accurate your swatch photos are. Wishing you continued success!

  43. Congrats and here's to many more lovely posts in the future! :) I thoroughly enjoy your clear swatches/comparisons and beautiful pics. Recently, I stumbled upon OPI's A Butterly Moment in Ulta long after I thought it would be gone, and recalled your post about it and purchased it. You have definitely fueled other purchases in the past as well. Thanks for the hard work and dedication you put in to the beauty look book because it is outstanding and appreciated! :)

  49. Happy anniversary, Sabrina! I love The Beauty Look Book, and the blog your creating over at Styled Notes.

I have 2 recent stories about how your blogs have influenced me, and it was an amazing realization for myself to realize how much I trust your opinions. First, I'm also in SoCal, and I love reading your new blog Styled Notes. Your post about Bottega Louie and the macarons? I died. I talked about wanting to go to BL so much to my friends after that post, that one of them who lives in DTLA bought me macarons for my birthday from BL a few weeks ago. It made me cry, I was so happy. :) Ha. I still haven't been to BL yet, but I am addicted to Styled Notes and seeing your romps around LA - totally inspires me!

As for the Beauty Look Book, I had no idea Laura Mercier had released her fall collection, or that it included the Spellbound Illuminator till I read your post. As soon as I saw it - and you said it was backup worthy like Rose Rendezvous - I hustled over to Nordstrom and bought it immediately. It's stunning, and my fave purchase this month. Thank you!

  51. Hello Sabrina. Congratulations on four years of blogging. I love the Beauty Look Book and Styled Notes, although my bank account might not love you so much! This year, because of your testing, I purchased both the Dior Gel Topcoat and the Chanel Topcoat and I love them both. I cannot decide which one I prefer, so I use them both, usually the Dior with my Dior polishes and the Chanel with my Chanel polishes. I read your blogs faithfully and I also follow you on Instagram. I have been following you since 2010.It is because of you that I have heard of brands like Paul and Joe (now have some of their polishes) and Koh Gen Do (now use their cleansing spa water and soft gommage spa gel.

Among probably many things, I purchased Dior's Gel Top Coat after seeing your review. I love this top coat and is now the go to for my manicures. Holds the color a good 4 days and just starts to wear down slowly at the tips. My nail girl is even impressed!

You can reach me via email at melissa.guillory@me.com. I just took your Survey Monkey survey and hope to win.

  81. The areas you've influenced my purchases the most this year are the YSL nail swatches. I love their polish but having good swatches helps me decide whether or not to pull the trigger! Most recently, the GRIS DECO and Jade Imperial I went and bought due to your recommendations.
Also, I really turn to your seasonal collection reviews. Particularly, the CHANEL, NARS and Tom Ford ones. Sometimes something looks great in the ad but does not translate to real life very well. It's nice to get someone's take on it before I investigate myself. I've actually decided not to get things I thought I wanted based on your reviews (blushes in particular) and wound up getting things I was not interested in originally like the creme Chanel blushes which are very sheer and wearable.
Also, I have a ton of diptyque candles and intend on trying your tutorial this weekend! My email is: tmkmurphy (at) yahoo (dot) com

    ReplyDelete
  82. There are three main areas you've directed influenced me on as of late:
    1. YSL Nailpolishes- I'm glad someone besides me caught on to how wonderful they are. Simply the best. Your reviews of Jade Imperial and Gris Deco caused me to pull the trigger without seeing them in person..which is great because not only do I love them but they sold out soon after.
    2. All of your Tom Ford and CHANEL reviews: Again, I adore Tom Ford but it is pricey and no one nears me sells it. Having swatches helps big time. You've actually prevented me from buying things I thought I wanted (like a bronze eyeshadow palette by TF) and encouraged me to buy things I originally was not interested in (the CHANEL creme blushes).
    3. Finally, the Diptyque holder how to. I am cleaning them this weekend! My email is TMKMurphy (at) yahoo (dot) com

  83. Hi Sabrina. Thanks for having this fantastic giveaway, you're so generous. I read you blog daily and there are so may things that I have purchased because of you that I don't know where to start. But I would have to say the most recent item is the Dior Bonne Etoile shadow palette. I hadn't seen it yet and was on the fence about getting it but when I saw your post with the gorgeous pictures I caved and haven't been disappointed. In fact, I've never been disappointed by anything I have purchased after seeing on your blog. Thanks for the great pictures and honest reviews.

So you've inspired me to purchase the Laura Mercier Spellbound Face Illuminator (so in love!) and Chanel Le Vernis in Alchimie. I'm sure you'll continue to influence my purchasing decisions.

  97. Hi Sabrina, thanks for the giveaway 1st of all. You didn't inspire me to buy one, but so many products. Your pics are always excellent, and your taste and your reviews are spot on!! 102. Thank you for the giveaway! I've bought a number of things from your recs - some were older posts since I'm just getting into beauty: Nars Gilda, RBL polishes, Diptyque candles to name a few

  103. You've influenced a lot of my purchases. One of my favorites is the Chanel Mystere quad. And I'm looking forward to trying the Diptyque candles.

  104. I love your swatches! They ate so helpful, as I don't have local access to HE beauty brands, and almost always have to order sight-unseen online. Most recently you got me with the Dior Bonne Etoile Palette, which is absolutely lovely, as promised!

    Thanks for the giveaway! :)

  105. Congratulations on four years of blogging! Your lovely and thorough reviews have inspired many purchases - most recently the Dior Bonne Étoile eyeshadow palette.

  106. Thanks for the giveaway offer! I have bought many things thanks to your blog! I think the most recent though was the MAC summer 2013 bronzer. I wanted to ask, would you be able to do more mascara reviews? I'm on the hunt for one that will keep a curl on my stick straight lashes, and won't flake or smudge. Smudging is a huge problem for me! Thanks!

  108. Your blog has inspired many of my beauty purchases! After reading your post on the Chanel creme blushes, I ran out and purchased the shade "revelation". It really is the perfect pink. And its really easy to apply. I can't wait to try the other shades. I want them all! Congrats on the blogging anniversary. Four years is a huge accomplishment!

  125. Hi!

I've purchased many nail polishes and different flowers because of you! I recently got Chanel Lilis after our email exchange not too long ago and I love it. 126. Long time lurker here, first time commenting :) I have purchased SO many items based on your reviews. The purchase that sticks out to me most is my quest to find Miami Peach after seeing your pics... from about two years ago. I stalked Ebay and dropped way more than the retail price, that's for sure. That's what I get for looking at beautiful pictures of an old limited edition product!

  127. Congratulations, Sabrina! That's quite a milestone. I am inspired by every blog post. Not even joking. I have followed you for a very long time, from back in our MUA days. I buy almost every lipstick that you post. Some just aren't available to me but I buy the ones that are. I have you to thank for my Armani obsession. The one post that sticks out the most in my mind was when you posted that you were rearranging priorities, or something like that, and that you were going to be blogging a little less because of real life things. I thought that took a lot of courage and I admired you for it. My 04 heart at yahoo dot com.

  129. Hi! I'm a recent user of bloglovin', but have been haunting your blog for a long time to see new reviews and swatches. After your reviews on the somewhat new YSL lipsticks, I fell in love with the Rose one, and ended up buying both the Rose and the Nude a few days later. Thanks so much for providing the swatches. They really were helpful! It helps that your skintone in the pictures is very close to mine, so I get an accurate depiction of the color variations of the lipstick.
By the way, my email is feimei(dot)zeng@gmail(dot)com. It's in my google profile, I think.

  130. Goodness I can't even begin to tell you how many products I've purchased from reading your blog...the most recent was yesterday; the Dior Fusion shadow...I purchased three (Millenium, Meterore, Hypnotique). Your swatches and descriptions are extremely helpful, especially when applied on your personal self. And I especially like the fact you are not biased. Thanks so much!

  131. I actually bought the Baies candle and room spray, which you talked about in a recent entry. I couldn't help myself. I also bought the Mimosa candle. They smell amazing.

I don't have a blog but here's my twitter: @shaymitchnyc so you can check.

  132. Like others I have purchased many items due to your reviews! The most recent being the Bobbi Brown brush cleansers - which I had no awareness of prior to reading your blog! You are definitely one of my go-to sources. Congratulations!

  133. Saw your post for July 2011 on Chanel Graphite. Love it and it has become a signature color for me and is great with a tan and my dark hair. Even the techs at nail salon commented on it when I got a pedicure. It sure stood out beautifully against the women getting hot pink and neon orange. You also did a post on YSL Pyrite in Jan 2013 and now I love that one too.

  143. Thank you for your blog, Sabrina. I love your swatches. You definitely caused me to buy Taboo by Chanel. Come to think of it, I think it was your swatches last year of Sky Line that caused that purchase.

I also want to thank you for the in depth report of your recent Chanel makeover. In it, you solved a problem I was having with two of my Chanel lipsticks, Pirate and Gracile. They have been so drying on me--even over a layer of Chapstick--that they have been in my makeup drawer very neglected. You told us about how your makeup artist mixed a Rouge Coco with a Rouge Coco Shine, and a light bulb went off over my head. I did the same with Gracile and Pygmalion and loved the result. So thanks for including that tip.

Congrats on the four years of blogging.

  145. Wow, what an awesome giveaway, thank you! Name one thing I bought after being inspired by this blog. Hmmmm you have to but look at my drawer full of Chanel polish! I probably wouldn't have sampled that kool-aid if this blog wasn't here. Though my collection consists of more than just Chanel I had to buy two Helmers to fit everything, my boyfriend wasn't sure what to make of the fact that I had to buy FURNITURE to house my polish. ;)

Your swatches and color comparisons are what I rely on most! Thanks for all you do. This is just the start for me as I start paying attention to other types of posts beyond lacquer, I'm sure. minyuetteathotmaildotcom

I'm inspired to buy many many things that you write about, but the one thing that grabbed me was the Tom Ford Cream Color for Eyes in Escapade and Pink Haze. Had to have them! And of course then it became a mission because every Neiman Marcus was sold out of them. Finally found them though and love love love them!!

  148. Congratulations on your anniversary! I have become a huge fan of the blog, and I check in frequently for comparisons when I'm curious about a product or just craving inspiration.

In particular, I'm really grateful for your posts on Edward Bess. It's not a brand I had experience with prior to finding your blog, but the Cosmic Bliss prismette has become one of my favorite palettes.

Thank you so much for this generous giveaway and for sharing your style with us!
