Burberry No. 03 Pale Nude Complete Eye Palette

Burberry Pale Nude No. 03 Complete Eye Palette ($59) is a beautiful palette of soft neutrals. The colors layer well to create a soft illuminated eye with a soft contour. For many pale-colored quads, I find the shades all end up looking the same on my skin. Not so for the Pale Nude and I was surprised to find that this one is probably my favorite in out of the Burberry quads that I have tried. The shades in Pale Nude include a frosted cool white, a yellowish light cream with an iridescent sheen, a soft nude pink shimmer and a warm tan beige shimmer. All the colors in this palette have shimmer and frost. The color payoff is excellent like Pale Barley but not quite as metallic on the lids making this a great everyday staple. Texture is buttery smooth like the Burberry singles. I found the texture of this quad to be the best out of all the ones I tested.

Swatches on my Chanel B30 skin:

A few comparisons to other shades:
  • Pale Nude's white is not as sharp as Porcelain White, but very similar
  • Pale Nude's yellow cream looked similar to Porcelain in the compact, but it's quite a bit more yellow
  • Pale Nude's seashell pink is more neutral/warm than other Burberry pinks, I found it similar to Chanel's Sillage single, just more neutral
  • Pale Nude's brown shimmer is warmer and darker than Pale Barley

Overall a lovely staple and great palette for a soft nude eye. It does need a dark eyeliner for a complete eye look but other than that works great for me. The effect is subtle but glowy and softly defined. I really love it, but I can't say it would be a must-have for everyone. I can definitely see that some would find it to be too neutral or pale depending on personal preference.

  1. I didn't swatch this one because I wasn't sure if it would show up on my medium-tan skin. Thoughts?

    1. Hard to tell - I thought it wouldn't show up on me but it did (purchased sight unseen). I'd rate my skin at a medium-light? A quick google search shows that Pale Nude showed up well on Weekend Ramblings - she appears to have darker/tan skin http://www.weekendramblings.com/2012/11/burberry-eyeshadows-quads-palette-swatches.html

    2. Hi Sabrina..thanks for the link! Just wanted to add, Pale Nude was the most difficult to show on my skin - so it might not be the best pick for someone of my skin tone, only because the other quads looked so much more beautiful..just my feeling about this quad..

It does show up beautifully on your skin, and I think it also depends on the kind of makeup one is looking for - some people like very subtle makeup and this might be perfect.

  2. Thanks for the swatches Sabrina! I was most interested/excited for this one! But I am also liking Burberry Porcelain as well. Maybe pick up both! :)

  3. Thanks for the swatches Sabrina. I was the most interested/excited about this quad. If your review wasn't so positive I'd likely pass on it. Burberry Porcelain looks so pretty as well, maybe pick up both! :)

  4. Hi Sabrina, What a beautiful set of pale tones; I've been favoring soft eye colors lately and this looks like a wonderful palette for that purpose :)

  5. I thought this quad would only show up on very pale skin tone. It looks really chic based on your swatches. I wish there was a Burberry counter locally to swatch it on my skin :(.

  6. Burberry eye shadows are gorgeous.. I just realized I need Pale Barley and Porcelain.. Why couldn't I've seen this post before I went to London instead of after I got back to where Burberry makeup is not available?? He he.. typical x x

  9. What a pretty soft-toned palette! This looks like it would be just perfect for brightening the eyes, or for when you are wearing a stronger lip color :)

  10. Wow did you get all of them Sabrina? I'm so jealous!! :P

I originally thought Pale Nude would be much too pale for me, but after seeing your swatches, I think I would love it and wear it everyday!! Great, yet another one to add to my list! (I narrowed it down to 2 I would get when these first came out but with every new review you've posted, I've added another one to my buy-list!!)

  11. I actually love the range of shades in this - it's everything I'd need for an quick everyday brightening look. I do have plenty of similar shades though, but there is something particularly enticing about the packaging and pattern

  13. Lovely swatches. Great for very fair skin. A matte would have been a great addition for lining or crease.

  14. This is a really pretty palette. I prefer the more subtle finish of these shades over the swatched singles. Speaking of which, I greatly appreciate the effort you make to provide comparison swatches in all of your reviews!
