Chantecaille Tiger in the Wild Palette, Anais Lip Chic & Classic Lip Gloss

Patience is not a virtue I possess. I wanted to wait for Beauty Week at Neimans, but in short, failed. As soon as I saw the new Chantecaille Tiger in the Wild Palette $78, I had to bring it home with me. The minimums of the GWPs are usually high and in past years have been rather disappointing. I didn't think it was worth waiting for, so immediately straight to the cash register I went. The is different than I expected, much prettier in person, unique for fall in my opinion, but still suitable for year round as it is very classic. The Tiger Palette has an overspray making the colors look harsh and almost sharp. Underneath is a lovely glowy palette of ivory, silvery grey with the slightest hint of sage, a lovely smokey navy-plum, and a soft apricot blush. It's really lovely. I also picked up Anais Lip Chic $30 (very sheer peach) and Classic Lip Gloss $28 (neutral peachy-brownish, but very pigmented).

Anais Lip Chic (it's very sheer, I wish I had gone with Capucine for more color)

Overall thoughts: Pricey but beautiful. I really love this palette. It has that typical Chantecaille glowy quality for a subtle but not-too-subtle look. I think the blush is dupe-able in other brands. The eyeshadows have this beautiful shimmer that I find extremely unique. The photos do not do it justice. I think the palest shade is similar to Laura Mercier Stellar Eyeshadow. I could not find an exact dupe for the silver or navy-plum shade - but I'm sure there are similar colors in other lines.

Of course, check out Karla Sugar for swatches of the whole fall collection. Note we do have different skintones and swatch differently. I usually swatch with a brush which is why mine are usually sheerer.

  1. Beautiful palette. I don't own any Chantecaille products even though they are so pretty. I think out of the 3 Chantecaille palettes you have posted about this might be my favorite. The rose one was pretty too but I really love the colors of this one.

    When is Neimans beauty event?

  2. I love this palette. A week ago I went ahead and called Space NK and talk to the SA I always buy from, I sent her a picture of me and asked about if the colors on this palette will look ok in my skintone (medium, olive undertones, tan easily), and she said that the colors would not look as sharp or nice, just greyish on me (she played around with the palette with other SA with my skintone). So I decided not to buy it, but I did buy the Lip Chic in Capucine and the purple eyeliner...they are in their way to my house. Anyway, after reading your review I will have to drive an hour to my closest NM to see the palette for myself and try the colors on me...your review is sooooooooo tempting...
    Thanks

  4. We are on the same wavelength! I just got the same 3 pieces this past weekend as my introduction to Chantecaille. Your lips look beautiful! The makeup artist first put Capuchine on me, but it was just a little more color than I felt comfortable in. My lips are very similar to yours, and I usually feel more comfortable in muted, darker shades. I am trying to branch out so have been trying more lighter lip colors recently. I am loving everything I got and now I want more more more Chantecaille! The palette is beautiful and very easy to wear. I love the way the lip chic and lip gloss feel and the colors are sheer but sooo pretty.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of eyelids do you have? I have the typical Asian monolids and until recently really didn't wear eye shadow because I wasn't sure how to do it.

I love that you have pictures showing lip shades on your lips. Thanks for all your posts!

  9. omG these are beautiful! I'm not a big eyeshadow girl but these are calling my name. The lip gloss shimmer- is it very apparent or subtle? It looks very natural on your lips

  11. Hi Diane! I love the Rose Trio too but can't wear that pinky shade on the eyes. It works well as a light blush. I think Neiman's Beauty Event starts on the 9th or 10th of September.

Lucia - I recommend you wait until the beauty event or close to the date so you can take advantage of any GWPs on that date. It seems harsh in the pan only because of the overspray. It's really a lot softer once the glimmering overspray is gone - check Karlasugar's blog for more pigmented swatches.

Replica - glad the review helped!

Allison W - That's a great way to get into Chantecaille! They have some lovely colors. Capucine seemed pretty bright on my hand as well, but Anais seems so sheer/light. I am Chinese and I don't have a crease. If you have a Japanese supermarket near you check to see if they have Japanese magazines like Voce, Maquia, Biteki, Oggi - they have good tutorials for how to apply eyeshadow. Also check out Rouge Deluxe's Blog (linked on my blogroll) she has great scans and posts that will help.

Lexi - the gloss is pretty, but very natural.

Andi - I think the eyeshadows in the palette are gorgeous. Thanks about the gloss, it does feel like my lips but better.

WillWorkForMakeup - the pinkypeach shade is a blush, it's softer than what you see in the overspray which is nice.

Luv2smilexo - That's great! Are you planning on getting the gwp?

  12. Michelle - the lipgloss has very subtle shimmer, on the lips it doesn't show up at all, it's more like a cream.

Andee Layne - lol, you seriously have the most perfect OOTDs, I love everything you post! But TY :)

  13. My goodness, that is a pretty palette! You are right, it looks so much better w/out the overspray. Love that gloss on you too.

  16. GAH, that looks SO good on you. I'm relieved you got it, actually. ;-)

  17. Wow, what a palette! But I think paying $78 might hurt. Like, I'd literally say "ouch!" Now that lip gloss, that would be relatively pain free...

  18. I bought this exceptional palette about a month ago when I was thinking of summer into fall transitional make-up. There is something about the combination of greys with light apricots and peaches that I find very alluring. The soft, warm tones on the lips still say summer, but the greys and silvery taupes on the eyes harold the cooler days of autumn. It's Chantecaille's juxtaposition of cool and warm tones that make this palette such a stand out. And, of course, Chantecaille uses superb pigments. The color in the pan is just half the story. They're always so much more beautiful on. I also love the combination of Chanel's Enigma quad with Chintz/Petite Peche on the lips. It's different enough from Chantecaille's look to make them both good purchases.

  19. It's soooo pretty, I always want to have a eyeshadow palette from Chantecaille, but it is way above my budget. I own a Chantecaille compact and I love it! Thanks for your review!

  20. Thanx for sharing as always! I was wondering if you have ever used Chantecaille foundation, and if you have, what are your thoughts on them?

  21. MatruoshkaDoll - The palette is so much better without the overspray. I never understand why companies do it.

Mona - LOL :) We all tend to do that to each other. Initial pass, then we see it on another blog and it's like "must check out again."

Karlasugar - TY, it looked amazing on your arm too! But then everything does.

Stef - Yes it's steep, but each eyeshadow/blush individually is a lot more expensive so I could justify the price better.

Eileen - I knew you would have this! Yes, the combination is alluring. Something i would have never thought of myself, but gorgeous.

  22. BeautyOnTheWay - It's pretty, but yes pricey. Perhaps start with one single eyeshadow? That's how I started. Glad the review was helpful.

Panda - I tried their foundation over 7 years ago. I don't remember much about it except that I thought it was either too heavy or sheer. Today they probably have more options.
