I Just Want To Say Thank You

I just want to say thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to share your thoughts, especially those who filled out my recent survey. I value the feedback you have all given me and cannot express how touched I was by some of your comments. It nearly brought me to tears I was so touched by how thoughtful and kind many of you were.

It meant a lot to me that so many of you took the time out of your busy schedules to tell me about your likes and dislikes!

Blogging has been a challenge for me lately. There have been numerous times I have wanted to throw in the towel and quit. I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I don't expect everyone to like what I do, but it's beyond me why some women love to hate! Why do they make it their personal mission to bash or insult someone they know nothing about? If those women hate me, my blog, or what I blog about, why do they keep visiting and reading my website?

Yes, I know I have way too many taupe eyeshadows, nude lip colors and peachy blushes. Those who "hate" those color categories, you will just have to accept the fact that I am indeed obsessed with those items and you will most likely see more posts about those at some point in the future.

Keep in mind, I'm in my 20's, I'm not a beauty professional and I'm still developing my sense of style. Isn't that part of the beauty of growing up?

Anyways - I thought I was becoming irrelevant to many of you, but your responses have given me the motivation to keep blogging. Silly as it may sound, I had no idea that any of my posts were interesting for so many of my readers. I am going to print out your responses and tack them on my bulletin board for daily motivation. As a blogger I will do my best to try and write about things many of you are interested in while still trying to stay true to my own personal style.

A special note to the woman who asked me why I let go of the yellow background - I was experimenting with templates due to a few feedback responses that said something along the lines of, "I hate to say this, but I don't like that ugly yellow background, please change it." I experimented with numerous color schemes but in the end gave up and resigned to using the basic white because it was the easiest for me. Perhaps one day I will reformat this blog into a more professional and interesting template. But for the time being - this is what is easiest for me to manage. Hope this answers your question!

You blog posts are interested that you group similar items together and point out what's unique about each, so girls like us can pick what fits out need the most. As of haters, I think some girls are (I don't know?) and they just need to vent somewhere...I usually let them do it hoping that after they take their dump at my comment session, it would stop them from hurting a baby in real life in case they get too stressed out.lol.

And if I were you (regarding the "ugly yellow background), I would just changed it to a ...deeper shade of yellow, just to tick that girl off...

Ditto to what Citrine said. I love your blog! Keep up the good work!

Your posts are a-m-a-z-i-n-g! Your blog is the epitome of class and grace. You are first class in a sea of other bloggers. I look forward to your posts everyday.

If I don't like a blogs main content, I don't read their blog *period*. I have better things to do than write to complain about it.

Please keep your chin up and continue your excellent work!!!

Keep up the awesome work, I love reading your blog!! It's organized and in depth. I read other makeup blogs, and I haven't seen anyone else take the time to compare products that are similar in color match. So, thanks so much for doing that!! To all the haters just ignore them. :0)

I lived in Jakarta, Indonesia and makeup is so scarce here that I have to depend on MUA and blogs like yours to do my mu research ;). And honestly, I always start with yours cause you have so many pretty stuffs and you photographs them beautifully, do an extensive comparisons etc. I would be sooo bummed if you ever quit!! Blogging IS a hard work so I really appreciate your willingness to continue doing so. But anyway, I'll always support you :).

I don't understand why people leave rude, judgmental comments. If I don't like something I see on someone's blog, I just ignore it. Forget about the haters and keep doing what you do!

P. S. I too have thought about throwing in the towel before... Blogging is a lot of work! LOL! But in the end, I think it's worth it. I've met some wonderful people on Blogger!

Hi Sabrina, first time reading your blog and found it quite interesting. :D
Forget about those haters, they are so mean. It's not that you are doing harm to anybody. And why should it bother anybody what is your backgroud color? Just stick to it if that's what you like. I luv yellow color =)
Keep up the good work & stay happy. Have a nice day ahead.

I have to say that I'm one of the many that loves your blog as well! And it's sad that a lot of people act so rude and hateful... But they're probably jealous of you because of all of your nice makeup! :P You seriously have one of the best collections I've seen. And I like reading your reviews and looking at your swatches, even if it may include colors that I don't usually consider. Makes me think outside of my beauty comfort zone and you seriously create a ton of new lemmings for many of us readers. Thanks for continuing to blog, and I look forward to your future entries! :)

All blogs that are popular get some anon snarky comments. It seems that some people can't stand to see others do something well, and I'm sure there's a fair bit of very unpretty jealousy in those comments too. You keep that pretty chin up :)

I get the odd 'Urgh, your FOTD is so boring' (I delete that type of anon one now, because it's rude and adds nothing to the blog dialogue) but at the same time the Pixiwoos get 'Your looks aren't wearable' comments. You just can't please everyone.

Hi, it is probably the first time I comment here, but I just wanted to say this: I never thought I would follow a beauty blog; I stumbled here by accident by clicking a link on the non blonde - because I am a perfume obsessed ;) - and since then I come here on a daily basis.
The way you present things is so fresh, you sound passionate and sincere, and I could go on and on!
But there is especially one thing I am so grateful for: I have been biting my nails since I was 3 (yes, yuck! :P); looking at your manicure in re-issue made me want so badly to stop and get hands like yours that I have managed, since then, to get decent nails!
And paint them in particuliere!!! ;)
I know, it sounds childish and a bit stupid, but it is true and it meant a lot for me.

Sabrina,
Your blog is fabulous, classy and very much accurate colors ;-)
It is one of the best beauty blogs, IMO.
Please keep on going, you do an excellence works down here!
(I like white background, too. I think it compliment your photographs just fine.)

Don't ever apologise! I love your blog, I read it every day because it is fabulous! I think you are very professional in what you do, you are above all those petty people who express internet rage. The only reason they do it is because it is sooooo easy to be a brave bully behind a proxy; if these people saw you face to face they would not dare utter a word. Keep in mind those people are not well inside, something is lacking in them and that's why they can't express love, admiration or support.

I live in a place that is always last to see new collections, that have ridiculous pricing and where many lines/products are only avaible online. To me you are providing a service that has no comparison; I get to see what's out there, hear what's good and what can be avoided. You are saving me money and guiding me toward the great makeup out there.

Thank you for this amazing blog!

It's been almost two months since I found your blog. I love coming to your blog a lot. And you do the swatches of products that are hard to find. Please don't be discourage and keep up the good work.

Well, I don't like nude eyeshadows, peach blushes and lip colours, but I think your blog is interesting, you are amusing and if I come back here each day is because I want to read what you have written. So, non-sense in coming here for bashing. If someone doesn't like your blog, well, internet is huge! So keep up the good work and don't worry about bad comments! ;-P
(yes, I read your blog daily, but this is my first comment!)

Thanks a bunch! Carol

Thank you for taking the time to post these pictures and to review items. I appreciate your style, and you never fail to inspire me to put together certain combinations of colors. I don't comment too much, but I do want to let you know that I am a huge fan of your blog.

Sincerely,

Your blog is hands down my favorite beauty blog (and I read MANY!) It's my reading material with my morning cup of coffee. Don't let those negative comments get you down since I am sure they are always from 12-year-olds who have nothing better to do with their time. Mature adults would never do that.

Keep doing what you do so well! (And THANK YOU for doing it!)

Love your blog! I may have been one of those who wrote a comment about all taupes looking the same to me, but if so, that's in no way meant to disparage your collection. I look forward every day to see what's new. Your blog is unique, and should I be in the market to choose a taupe or nude, you bet your money I'll be searching your site. Don't worry and have fun! There are always posts that interest and don't interest me in every blog. Rock on!

I very much look forward to coming into work everyday to finding my Beauty Lookbook update email in my inbox. I subscribe to a lot of beauty blogs, but yours is undoubtedly in my top 5 - probably top 3 ^_^. I love that you don't do the cheesy contests and giveaways that so many other bloggers do. To me, that really cheapens the feel of the blog, and makes it TOO much about the reader and not enough about the blogger! I love that your posts are true to your beauty style and interests. There is no wondering if others will be interested in what you post about, as you have a great taste!

Sorry for rambling. Just wanted to say that I think you're awesome, and I hope you'll keep doing what you do!

I love your blog! Don't you dare stop! I didn't fill out your survey-I guess I should have, I'll have to make an effort to give you more positive comments. Focus on those. I don't wear nail polish (and only wear one color on my toes-Essie Mademoiselle) but do I send you hate mail every time you post about a nail color? No, I just skip reading it and wait for your next post. This is a normal response. Anyone sending you overly negative or mean comments is not worth your time and certainly not worth your worry. There are probably many more people like me who love your blog but have lives and haven't taken the time to tell you so, but I'll make an effort from now on.

Thank you ladies! This is making me cry even more right now. Thanks for all your support. I will always welcome any feedback, good or bad. Those of you who expressed your yays/nays to me, I value those who give me constructive feedback, so don't worry if you said taupes weren't your thing. You are more than welcome to tell me what doesn't work for you.

I was referring to in my article was the non-constructive bashing.

But I will try to ignore them and focus more on wonderful ladies like you :)

Sabrina,
You are fabulous and like I have always said there are always going to be haters! They are haters because they are just jealous of you and that you are doing something that you are very passionate about. I love your blogs - your color palettes are similar to mine, you have great style and I just envy (in a good way) your LV/Gucci bag collection. Please keep up the great work because along with the other beauty blogs I read, you remind me that it's okay to unapologetically girly. You make me feel that it's okay to have my "ME" time in front of my bathroom mirror while my husband and daughter are still sleeping. For that, I say 'Thank you, Sabrina...'

Naz said...

I think you're absolutely fabulous and I love love love your blog. I personally like more colour than what you do, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate your neutral swatches!

I search the net trying to find swatches, loving make up so much, as lots of us do, is expensive business!

Your blog is wonderful and you should take any negative comments with a pinch of salt. Make yourself happy and do things the way you want to. You're providing us with something wonderful that you get nothing for in return, so just be happy about your great work!

Cicc said...

You blog is the first beauty blog I check every day. :) I think neutrals are in fact *very* exciting, in their own subtle way. Elegant, classy, always in style. And so few other blogs cover them so extensively.

So please, please keep up the amazing work! :)

Dear Sabrina,

I actually came accross your blog 2 weeks ago. I am a makeup artist and beauty junkie who read like 30 makeup blogs per day, and I have to say that I went back and read all your post since the inception of your blog and I love it! Your blog is unique and I am definitely looking forward to your posts. I am with you having prefered colors such as taupe eyeshadows, peach lipsticks etc. I am the same way...I tend to always go for the taupe eyeshadow and pink blush and lipstick...I sumply love them! Thanks for the time you spend on sharing amazing information with teh bloggers and please dont quit...your blog is amazing and unique. Regards, BF

Forgot to say, even though I don't comment a lot. You're one of the few blogs that I go to everyday. I love your Paul and Joe and Mac swatches since I want to try them out. I like neutrals, so keep on bringing on those taupe and nude eyeshadows. I like the look of your blog it's clean and simple.

This is the FIRST time I write a comment in your blog, I feel the need this time to tell you that your blog is a very interesting one!!!! because it COMPARES products. Hey, I purchase several nail polishes based on your swatches, and I appreciate the time and effort you put on it. And let me tell you that for a 20 something woman, I feel you have the sensibility of a more mature one, your blog is very professional (not childish at all) and organized. I check it every single day.
THANKS for that!

Estelle said...

Sabrina, I hope you keep doing exactly what you've been doing. Peaches, taupes, white backgrounds - all of it. I absolutely LOVE your blog and think you are pretty terrific, too.

Daphne said...

It's funny how different people respond to a blog differently. I LOVE your features that compare, say, taupe eyeshadows or "nude" products across several brands. How useful! It's nice to know that when something new comes out, I don't NEED it because there's so many options within a given color family. Of course, I may get them anyway because I can be like you (with shimmered coral lipsticks and glosses!) but it's great to know what's out there and buy what I love.

Alix said...

Blog for yourself and you'll always please your audience! ;-)

Ignore the haters if you can... blog to make yourself happy and readers who appreciate your efforts will stay. Those who don't can click off!

Sabrina. Please dont let any negative things stop you from the passion you have for blogging. I love everything you buy. Ok maybe not everything, but its great to see so many brands and your sense of style. This is always my go to blog for make up and fun beauty products. I know the girls at MUA love you too! Can wait for more posts.

I really love the colors that you frequently on your blog. Everytime I see your hauls, I'll go, wow...this girl has got great taste! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the color combos you come up with in your look of the day...they always look good together. Nyway I love your blog a lot and your blog will always be the first that I read everyday..so keep updating ya!!

piksie said...

I'm just repeating what others have said before me, so I haven't got anything to add really, I just wanted you to really feel the love haha. Your photos are gorgeous and your posts are fun and informative. Like some other people, I don't necessarily come on here to decide what I want to buy...because I'm fairly happy with the 15 taupe shadows and 10 peachy blushes I already own =]...no, I come to your blog every day because it's relaxing, fun, and your cheerfulness comes out in your photos and your writing. Stupid people always get to us, unfortunately, and stupid people are most often the most expressive people...But that doesn't mean you don't have a bunch of readers who adore your blog. Keep up whatever you're doing, cuz it's working! Good luck with everything.

Sabrina, I think your blog is quite different than all the others I like to read as well. I haven't seen yet so many color comparison like on your blog and I love those post! I actually love ALL your posts but these are my favorites!

And another thing - don't let bad comments get you. You have to love this blog for you, not for others and you have to find pleasure in what you're doing. And, as you can see now - lots of us is supporting you so just keep up the good work!
