Wedneday's Look: Smokey Eyes + Pink Lips/Cheeks

One thing I love about NARS makeover events is that the artists are always wearing the prettiest looks that I find inspirational to try on my own. At the recent NARS event I attended, there was an artist who had the most gorgeous smokey eye look with soft pink lips. I asked her what she was wearing and she told me it was NARS Brumes Duo mixed with Underworld Duo, Laguna Bronzer and Sweet Dreams Lipgloss.

Here is my attempt to recreate her smokey eye perfection with a bit stronger but still natural pink lip and cheek.

Face:

Giorgio Armani Bronzer #5
NARS Riviera Multiple
NARS Angelika Blush

Eyes:
Chanel Ombre D'Eau #87 River (as a sheer base)
Paul & Joe #10 Ballerina Eyeshadow (used last to blend out harsh lines)
Chanel Silvery Eyeshadow (because Brumes was a bit too matte)
NARS Brumes Eyeshadow Duo (mixed together)
Chanel Marine Eyeliner

Lips:
MAC Dervish Lipliner
Nars Catfight Lipstick
Laura Mercier Babydoll

The key for me to get a good smokey eye without looking like someone punched me is to first apply a pale shimmery pink cream shadow as a base. The next step is to apply the medium silvery color on the lids (Chanel Silvery) and blend with a soft crease brush. The next step is to apply a dark shimmery blue eyeliner (Chanel Marine) smudged unevenly along the upper lashes. Then to get the smokey effect, take NARS Brumes mixed together and apply right on top of the liner and smudge/blend upwards to get a gradient from lash to the middle of the eye. Take a soft pink shimmer and apply with a loose fluffy brush to blend out any harsh edges.

For the lips, I like NARS Catfight because it's a gorgeous rosey cool pink without being too cool. If you want something brighter, check out NARS Sex Machine Pencil, if you want something softer, check out NARS Roman Holiday or MAC Syrup Lipsticks. MAC Dervish Lipliner is a bit warmer than the Catfight lipstick, but matches my natural lip color when blended out.

Outfit of the day (for 75 Degree Sunny Weather today):
Jcrew Victoria Ruffle Tissue Cami in Dark Charcoal, Jcrew White Denim Skirt (from a few summers back), Tory Burch Thora Stingray Leather Sandals in Smoke (Nordstrom)

CUTE!
I did a coral lip today (fresh salmon) so I played up the peach theme with my eyeshadow as well but you definitely influenced me to go back to my roots and incorporate my all time favorite eye look - the classic smoky eye. I'll do a classic gray and neutral lip.

Lovely look! I have on a goldy bronze smokey eye today:
Eyes: Jouer Caramel eyeshadow on the lid, MAC Twinks in the crease, Victoria's Secret Sultry quad's dark blackish green color as a liner, smoked out and blended with MAC Molasses pearlglide eyeliner
Eye kohl and Chanel Exceptionnel mascara

Cheeks: Chanel Tempting Beige

Lips: MAC Marbelized lipglass in Nice Mix Up (from the Color Craft collection)

Coincidence, that's exactly how I usually start a smokey eye look too: I apply a light shimmery pink shadow first...! :)
Love these posts, you always combine everything so beautifully!
