Tuesday's Look of The Day

Today's look is centered around Nars Cactus Flower Cream Blush - one of my favorite brighter cheek colors. It looks garishly bright in the compact and in the swatch, but it blends out to a lovely healthy coral glow with subtle gold shimmer. I like to layer a soft gold powder on top to highlight. Today's pick was Bobbi Brown's Copper Diamond Shimmer Brick.

Eyes and lips are kept simple so they won't compete with the blush. I like soft coppery shades for the eyes with this for a subtle smokey bronze eye. For the eyes, NYX Nutment & Nars Fez were layered on top of the Estee Lauder Bronze Eyeliner and blended/smoked out. For the lips, I lined with MAC Neutralzone very lightly then dabbed a tiny bit of the Nars Cactus Flower on the lips and blotted. Next, I applied Bobbi Brown's Sunset Nude Creamy Lip Color and Coral Sand Lipgloss on top.

Cheeks:
Nars Cactus Flower Cream Blush
Bobbi Brown Copper Diamond Shimmer Brick

Eyes:
Bobbi Brown Sandy Gold Cream Eyeshadow
MAC Creme de Miel Eyeshadow
NYX Nutmeg Eyeshadow
NARS Fez Eyeshadow
Estee Lauder Bronze Doublewear Eyeliner

Lips:
MAC Neutralzone Lipglass Pencil
NARS Cactus Flower Cream Blush dabbed very lightly
Bobbi Brown Sunset Nude Creamy Lip Color
Bobbi Brown Coral Sand Shimmer Lip Gloss

Swatches, same order in different lighting:
I won't have time to snap pictures of my outfit today, the majority of today will be spent in my loungewear (sweatpants and a teeshirt). Of course, I still had to put on my makeup early this morning even though I wasn't planning on going anywhere until later tonight.

Luckily the clothes I plan on wearing tonight are still online from Anthropologie which include Sine's Oscillating Folds Blouse in a Sunny Yellow & Citizens of Humanity Dita Bootcut Jeans so you can see the outfit - just not on me - sorry!

Clothes will be paired with Jcrew's Christaine Calf Hair Flats in the Chocolate Camel color & my Gucci Princey Tote (from Spring 2007).

On today's agenda:

* Studying (will be done in loungewear not photographed)
* Class from 7 to 10 pm
* Sleep

Sabrina, you've come up with another winner. You've got such a good eye for balancing the brights with the neutrals in makeup and in clothing. You'll look gorgeous as usual--even in your PJs :-)

This is the first time I've seen a MAC lipglass pencil though... What are they like? :)

Leslie/Eileen/Panda - thanks for the compliments :)

Yasmin - I know, I'm sorry. I don't feel comfortable publishing my face on the internet!

Lakshmi - the Lipglass Pencils came out back in 2007 with the 3d collection. They were all limited edition.

sabrina,

you have some fashion sense! i think many of your looks so far are my kind and i have a few of similar tops that you wear! this yellow top particularly. i know i don't post anything to do with clothing but seriously, we gotta play in each other's wardrobes! (well, if you can fit into my SHORT jeans! LOL.)

Seriously, i used to post FOTD with shocking bright clothes on but on my normal days, i am more like you. LOVE all your fashion put-together. and i learn to see which bag matches with what! that is something i am still very poor at desppite i am such a bag collector. :)

thanks!

oh and I forgot to ask - how do you like the NYX e/s - I've been wanting to try them out since they got cute colors at such an affordable price!

You appear to be very organized. I'm dying to know how you keep track of all of your make-up? I have products that I cant even remember buying let alone find. Would love a post on how you store your make-up! Thanks and love your blog. Does everyone in CA dress up for class like you do?

Jojoba - thanks for the comments :) I feel like I am lacking in fashion sense. I lean towards very basic clothing.

Lexi - NYX is ok, nothing spectacular, but it's good for the price. They're very blendable but pigment is sheer-medium, which is ok depending on what you prefer.

Anonymous - check out this link for my storage: http://www.thebeautylookbook.com/search/label/Storage

As far as being "dressed up" at my school - I would say I'm right in the middle. I'm a graduate program right now and about 2/3 my class mates come to class directly from work, so they are definitely more dressed up than I am. The rest dress similar to me, and then there are those who are forever stuck in beach wear (shorts and flip flops) - which I love too, just not for late at night when it's colder.

Shoe envy, siiiigh. I should really start planning my FOTDs like you are - I just end up doing the same thing every day because I'm too lazy otherwise =(

another gorgeous look! cactus flower looks very pretty. Is it similar to cabo or calypso coral from BB?

Beautiful choices for the FOTD and I adore your flats!

Sweetart - Cactus Flower is brighter more coral than the BB. However, it's surprisingly more natural looking on the skin because it's not so orange.
