Dolce & Gabbana Golds Quad

December 3, 2009
Part 1 of D&G Holiday Collection was featured back in November with pictures and swatches of the new lipgloss, lipstick, blush and nail polish. Today focuses on the new Golds Eyeshadow Quad.

The quad has a pale pink shimmer, a white shimmer, a soft pale gold shimmer and a soft chocolate brown. This actually reminds me of Chanel’s White Whisper Quad with the only difference being the darkest shade. You can see from the swatch that the light colors look really similar. The texture is divine like all other Dolce & Gabbana eyeshadows – soft and highly pigmented.

Three different views and swatches:

This quad retails for $59 which is pretty steep – I actually received this from Saks NY in a bit of a mix up. When I placed my first order, they didn’t have the Golds Quad in yet so I told them to just call me when it came in and I would decide later if I wanted to buy it. I guess they interpreted that to just do a charge/send once it came in because it arrived at my door about 3 weeks later. Since they had already sent it and charged shipping, I just decided to keep it.

Looks like it will be pretty for a pale silvery eye which will be nice for the holidays and also going into spring if paired with some neutral tans like MAC Soba or Stila Puppy.

That's really pretty (although a bit cheeky just to charge and send!) I should pull my D & G out again and give it another go – I do really like the Elegance quad.

i would say that the two lightes shades should have been one darker so they look different. your swatches show them very close on my screen. $59 bucks seems to be a rip-off IMO. I was hoping to see that brown with some shimmers but unfortunately it is so matte…

that looks way more spring than holiday. still gorgeous though! did you take advantage of any of the rock and republic goodies on hautelook? I was super tempted to get more blushes but I just couldn't justify it. I did order the TF neutral eye palette with my VIB $20 coupon though!

Hi Grace – I agree with you, lol. If they didn't already charge shipping, I would have sent it back b/c I didn't order it!

Jojoba – yeah, $59 US is a rip off. The texture is AMAZING though. It would be so much better if the size of the product was larger.

Sooshi – I didn't look at R&R. I haven't been wowed by the line after my initial purchases (reviewed somewhere in my blog archives).

That TF neutral eye palette looks gorgeous but swatches seem to make it a tad too shimmery for my taste. A coupon is great though!

i like the packaging and pigmentation of these shadows but wow! $59?! i'm not sure i would ever pay that much for shadows lol. for that price i would expect to get a large amount of shadow but these look like your typical size.they still look pretty though 🙂 xx

LOL, we must have totally different tastes because I actually bought the R&R for the packaging! I love the big luxe compact. I think it's probably just because I'm so obsessed with their jeans though.

Hm. This looks like the Holiday Givenchy to me, where all the shadows would basically look the same on my eyes. Even the green in the TBS's latest shimmer bricks look whitish compared to darker colors in my EOTDs so I really doubt I'd be able to use this quad effectively… I wish the gold and pink were deeper and that the pink and brown had gold shimmer – that would be a truly stunning Golds quad then!

I like the contrast of matte and shimmer, but I imagine I'd run out of the brown before using up the remaining pale colors. I love the quad. Totally wearable, but for $59 , I hate to say the colors are not unique enough.
